I worked at State Farm part-time

    Pros

Fun, interesting place to work with a lot of flexibility and understanding for students.

    Cons

Sometimes project teams can get a little bloated, but that helps keep things flexible during the school year, so it is understandable

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, you've created an interesting and fun place to work for a variety of students

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The environment is relaxed. Nothing is really rushed unless you really fall behind on work. The job also gives you a lot of free time to do your own hobbies or see your family. During the internship I learned a lot and they made if specifically flexible so that you can move at your own pace to maximize learning.
They also started building more "modern" break areas that are actually quite relaxing to work in.

    Cons

At times it gets TOO relaxed. If it's a Friday, good luck getting anybody to do work. Though this applies to other companies as well.
Some managers come from the wrong places. State Farm sometimes places Sales managers in technical areas which ends up with sticky situations. Personally, I had no problem with my manager, but I have heard horror stories.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing to make your employees happy and push your company image because some employees don't even like State Farm.

    Pros

I really enjoyed the people that I worked with and also the ability to move up in the company.

    Cons

If you work hard then you will be able to move up rapidly. The potential agent program is really good training for the insurance industry.

    Pros

Able to help you reach your career goals, align projects with your interests, helps expose you to the company as a whole

I have yet to run into cons, especially with new offices opening in 3 large cities. I do not hear many people complain about the opportunities the company has for them.

    Advice to Management

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

State Farm is a company with LOTS of great people. There is a term at corporate called "State Farm nice" which basically means that everyone is friendly and pretty easy to work with overall. Management for me was great and cared about my personal growth throughout my internship. There were lots of opportunities for interns to grow professionally and my intern class had great people who I still keep in contact with months after the end of the internship.

    Cons

It can be hard to get projects done in a timely manner due to the bureaucracy that comes with a large company. Sometimes working with other departments can be hard due to cultural differences between departments.
