I have been working at State Street full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great stepping stone to get some financial services experience. Easy to move up/get promotions. Very easy to learn as much or as little as you please you just have to be motivated. Overall its a good company to work for, but like any other company it could always use improvement. Work from home and vacation time are great benefits to have!

    Cons

Salary and health care benefits could be better.

I have been working at State Street full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Steady gig - Benefits are decent - Ability to sometimes work from home is nice

    Cons

    - Very low salary - Work is repetitive, frustrating, and uninteresting - Company feels behind the times and like it's going nowhere - Technology is out of date - Sort of feels like they hate fun? No worker events, holiday parties, anything. Most days office is almost in complete silence.

I worked at State Street full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Ability to work from home, Paid volunteer time, Vacation, Benefits

    Cons

Raises and bonuses drastically decreased or ceased to exist over years, Outsourcing of jobs overseas, Experienced staff with knowledge either leaving company for other jobs or being laid off

    Advice to Management

Need to focus more on retaining the quality employees. A lot of the good ones are going elsewhere where they are more appreciated. Also, don't just look at the numbers when you are laying off employees. You have some employees who have been there for many years with a wealth of knowledge and experience that you are sending out the door and leaving the newly hired ones . You're taking a hit to customer service.... Sure you're saving money when it comes to salaries but are you losing customers because of it?

I have been working at State Street

    Pros

Ability to work remotely, although the number of days is not consistent among the teams or even on the same team. If your team forces over 60 hours/week, you may be lucky enough to work from home 2 days/ week. No real rhyme or reason here. Flexible on time to arrive at the office.

    Cons

No direction from anyone! This is a highly specialized industry and you’ll be left to figure it out the best that you can. Upper level management has no time to train and in many cases, don’t know the work well enough to train. Too many systems that don’t talk to each other with continual random requirements for non-IT teams to update. Raises are apparently non-existent unless you get a promotion. Bonuses... are scarce as well. Be prepared to give up your personal life as 60+ hours/week are common. Staff is short and they don’t plan to grow the teams. More and more work is shifted offshore but unfortunately this does not shorten the workweek.

    Advice to Management

Value the people who have chosen to stay with the company. If you don’t, they’ll surely leave.

I have been working at State Street full-time

    Pros

Good health and vacation benefits; opportunities to work from home

    Cons

Low pay and very few opportunities to progress; most employee appreciation and recognition events have been discontinued; there seems to be a steady stream of layoffs and morale is quite low.
