    Pros

Positive interaction with top leaders; lots of different opportunities throughout different agencies; and annual reviews.

    Cons

Hard to be considered for opportunities; lack of communication and interaction within your department; retirement plan is a mandatory whopping 11.5% which is quite a chunk when it kicks in.

    Advice to Management

Continue to promote open communication, new ideas, and career development for ALL employees. Also, continue to clean house of all bullies in management positions.

I have been working at State of Arizona full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, Paid time off, no micro managing

    Cons

Poor Upper Management, policy and procedures vs managements attitude that day and what they feel is right...

    Advice to Management

Public servants that provide exceptional service be compensated based on performance. Tremendous turnover rate; spending money to train new personnel in stead of compensating the committed public servants.

I have been working at State of Arizona full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are amazing. The office is fun. The opposing counsel are generally congenial because, Tucson. Benefits.

    Cons

The pay is garbage. This generally means the staff are HORRIBLE unless they've been here a while and they're just here to retire for the pension.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so cheap. Give raises. Keep good staff and attorneys in the office. Also, stop lying about compensation being set when raises are given at the discretion of the section chiefs.

    Pros

This is a social service position providing life improvement benefits to the most vulnerable population so it is emotionally usually very rewarding; you are never bored!

    Cons

It is a position of unending need, little recognition and pay too low for the hours required to do the job well.

    Advice to Management

Support and encourage, don't demean and belittle. Provide consistent leadership and follow up with expectations of the management team to ensure equal treatment.

I worked at State of Arizona (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Government employment is rewarding and the benefits are the best. The State rarely lay-off which means job security. There is always room fro advancement.

    Cons

No pay increases unless you promote. Regardless of a persons performance, a manager can dislike a person and let them go because of "At Will'. I think an employee should still be given a reason as to why their employment is ending.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your employees for their performance, attendance. etc.
