    Great benefits, friendly co-workers who are willing to help any time you need it

    Cons

    In the disability determination dept, you are told it takes about 2-3 years to become comfortable & truly knowledgeable in the position of analyst, yet most manageea are impatient and want you to perform like a pro soon after your initial training. It's all about the numbers, therefore, there is no time to devote to customer service or the analytical part of the job. The analyst is under high pressure to get the cases closed as soon as possible creating many mistakes & very stressed analysts. This position has a very high turnover rate and management does not change the way they do things. They need to be more supportive, encouraging, and willing to invest in the employees they have used so much of the State money to train. Yet, most managers micro manage & criticize instead of mentoring and training their employees. The turnover rate is out of control. People who do stay are very unhappy and stressed out and don't feel they have any other options because of the economy.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to mentor and train your employees wherever needed. Encouragement and support will increase the performance of your employees, it's not rocket science.

    not much is required of you. best kept secret is govt employment. must be able to tolerate mediocrity and incompetence.

    Cons

    pay is low as it always is for goverment jobs, impossible to get fired, working conditions involve a great deal of resource restriction
