I worked at State of Hawaii full-time

    Pros

What you do matters, serving the public. Depending on department, you could meet nice people. Good amount of holidays, vacations, and sick days.

    Cons

Starting salary does not take previous work experience before hiring. If you have many years of experience before hiring, you start at the first level. Salary increase is not based on performance. It is based on the number of years at the Employer. The longer you stay, the more salary, regardless of performance.

I worked at State of Hawaii full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I had the opportunity of working with an incredible team of Eligibility Workers from whom I learned so much. My team has a heart in serving others, in a way and measure in which I have not seen before. The Aloha Spirit embodies what each of us does for our community each day. I had the privilege to have had a supervisor who became my mentor and my support, whom I dearly admire and respect.

    Cons

High cost of living, compared to compensation.

I have been working at State of Hawaii full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There are some nice co workers

    Cons

There are so much gossip and people stepping on eachother to fight for favor. Then certain supervisors actually shows the favor to certain worker. Then certain workers dating eachotherand causes problems for others at work. Also overt racism by certain employees. Like an employee made a comment about African Americans. I was very upset.
