I have been working at State of Michigan full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work is super easy. It's not challenging after you've had a harder job. Pay is good. Benefits are good. Drama is very present.

    Cons

Not challenging. There isn't a lot of advancement opportunity. It's the good old boy club. If you're not a member then don't bother trying to advance.

    Advice to Management

Open you mind and mentor people to get better

I have been working at State of Michigan full-time

    Pros

Ability to balance work and family life.
    My area encourages further education.
Partnered with Davenport University for a discounted Undergraduate and graduate programs.
    Cohesive environment.
Encourage mentorship and management continues to find ways to attract and retain talents.

    Cons

Valued more outside talent than home grown due to diversity of experience the new hires can offer. Not bad, but sometimes they take a bet on someone they don't know leaving old employees under appreciated.
