Remote work opportunities. Supervisors who've been in the position and that care. Benefits are bar none. Community service in day to day work.

Pros
Many people and elected leaders across parties truly care about the people of Michigan.
Cons
Constant campaign from governor via email and meetings. Employee engagement is terrible, no budget for leaders to do anything (even coffee) for employees because no one wants tax dollars spent this way. I understand that but it's hard to hire top line professionals and not give them a cup of coffee or a donut once a year! Leaders are encouraged to buy food and lunch out of pocket...fine if you have 10 employees, not so easy if you actually have 400 (like me) - even coffee and donuts is nearly $1000!! There are politics between departments the lead to not receiving reasonable items in budget, don't care about the mission to care for the under served.

Good pay and benefits with the State.
Cons
On the job training is not very feasible with the lack of supervisors available. New workers are mislead to believe you will have someone working by your side but it doesnt happen the way you are told it will happen. Several new trainees had these concerns and were assured in office training would be with someone by your side. 6 people quit in 1 month including myself.
