      Pros

The only pros are that this position allows VERY flexible hours, there is a mentorship program, you can be a member of a State activities team (if that interest you), and you frequently get free food (in light of department meetings or outings)

      Cons

This position definitely humbles you... This position is good as a stepping stone for field related experience, however, I am utterly baffled by this position. You do the work of senior level analysts at half the pay and little to no recognition, the State doesn’t allow you to work more than 120-ish hours a month (or 29 hours a week), and they don’t pay you for holidays you think you would get paid for. There is no room for advancement or opportunity to expand on professional skills via the intersection of other disciplines (I.e. cross training). The work is repetitive, mindless, and can be slow.

      Pros

Decent pay and benefits, some really great co-workers, holidays off if the job qualifies, not much more to list.

      Cons

Union protects lazy workers, no pension, little room for advancement (who you know, not quality of work), incredible workloads, high turnover, unrealistic expectations, ridiculous policies, unrealistic expectations of employee, you do not want to take time off because you just come back to more work, and the list goes on.

      Pros

Great work- life balance and great benefits. Work load is not all that bad, if you are on top of your work, you won't get overloaded.

      Cons

Not much room for advancement. There can be some micro managing from other directors/ managers. Some directors/ managers give preferential treatment to certain employees but tend to treat others like scum.
