I have been working at State of Mississippi full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The best reasons to work in state government are the people of the state. They are so generous and hospitable when it comes to helping others. I like the fact that I am able to extend that same help to the citizens who give so much.

    Cons

As with any state agency, funding or the lack thereof, is sometimes a barrier to providing services to those who need it most.

I have been working at State of Mississippi full-time

    Pros

Working for the State provides a flexible schedule depending on the position you are in. The benefits get better the longer you work for state.

    Cons

The pay is generally very low compared to the private sector. Health benefits are ok but they do not offer a 401k and instead offer a lifetime retirement benefit through PERS.
