Pros
Holidays off is about the only pro and working with the public!! Making sure people are taken care of. I can’t even think of anything else.
Cons
Micro management, inconsistencies, no flexibility. I can go on and on but I left a detailed comment down below in the other sections.

Pros
If you have half a brain then you seem like a genius working here. It almost impossible to get in trouble, get someone in trouble, or to work collaboratively with other skillful people.
Cons
The IT team inhibits a lot of people from doing their job. It will take 3 weeks for them to install a simple printer driver. No one takes pride in their work. People are afraid to discuss problems or ask for help. Incompetent management keeps moving up because they have been there so long.

Pros
descent benefit package. lots of opportunity for upward mobility for people who work hard and want to advance.
Cons
Unless you have a strong HR rep to do your new employee enrollment there is not much onboading, which tends to create a situation where you're having to figure out how navigate payroll, and benifits systems.

Constant job openings: that should tell you something.

40 hours, Mon-Fri. Government work, and this office is fairly immune from layoffs. Base line employees are great people to work with.
Cons
Upper management, starting from the top and down to the first line supervisors are incompetent and micro managers. This poor work environment is supported by all top level managers, with an attitude of "if you don't like it, leave". No adjustment of work day for family issues that arise. No positive feedback on work performance. This all goes back to poor supervisor training. Does not care about victims whatsoever. Very political. If you complain, you get targeted and forced out.

Pros
Endless positions to advance. The people are great to work with
Cons
Horrible pay and benefits. Doesn't compare to other government agencies

Pros
Flexible schedule and work from home after you've completed your probationary period.
Cons
My boss at the time was insane to the point she was accusing people of lying on purpose and threatening to fire them over spelling errors. She ended up quitting because all of her subordinates kept quitting due to how terrible of a boss she was. No one stopped her and there were rumors (I was later told about how awful she was). I complained and was given a new position under a new boss. They didn't like me and failed to properly train me or give me any actual work so I was then let go for no reason. Seriously. They gave me no reason. I hate to bring race into it but the officers there were a bit you know, racist. The place is literally being held together by tape. Good luck to anyone who applies and actually works here. Its a nightmare. The sad truth is they have a handful of decent people who work their butts off. I don't know what they're gonna do when they actually get the guts to leave. The pay is not worth it and the treatment is not worth it either. I felt like I was walking on egg shells the entire time I worked there.

Pros
Flexible hours and locations lots of training available. School focused and friendly atmosphere.
Cons
Not much upward mobility more lateral most people stay until they retire or leave the state. 20 plus years average.

Family Services Specialist
Nov 22, 2015 - Family Services Specialist in Las Vegas, NVRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Benefits are decent and the time off is better than most. The people you work with on average are good people who want to do their jobs.
Cons
Most of the state is decent. Welfare was one of the worst jobs I have ever had. One of the supervisors stole the Christmas party fund to buy heroin and the office supervisor told me inappropriate stories while working out. It was an extremely uncomfortable situation.
