    Neutral Outlook

I worked at State of North Dakota full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are solid, especially medical. They have a good retirement system as well which is private to NDDOT, and there are a few different companies you can choose to work with. Quality work environment where employees are usually pretty easy to deal with. Weather you want to make a career of it, or just to gain experience in a certain field there are many different opportunities to look into.

    Cons

Pay is low compared to the private sector. Quite a few of the managerial employees can be quite power hungry and see the state as an easy way to work up and step on others.

I have been working at State of North Dakota full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good solid place to work for long-term benefits and retirement. Staff are all friendly to work with.

    Cons

Rate of pay is sub-par in correlation to corporate scale. Free medical insurance to employees is fairly poor coverage with more out of pocket to the employee than other plans that could be purchased via employee/employer contribution.

    Advice to Management

Raise pay to corporate scale and pull back some of the perks presented that are not as great as they are made out to be, like free medical.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at State of North Dakota full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good and the solid state of job security is well in doubt.
Some decent people to work with.

    Cons

Not enough pay for what the job requires you to do.
Main office tends to not have your back on calls you have to make. They tend to bend over easily for companies when they're suppose to be regulating and enforcing.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people out working in the field and are seeing issues first hand and not from behind a computer screen.
