I have been working at State of Ohio full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You are paid at a fair rate for what we do. The step increases get you to a great rate of pay.

    Cons

Outside of Columbus there you have to push for development and training. Most of it is on your own time. There is no succession planning for your career.

    Advice to Management

If someone is very motivated and wants to be lead to become a supervisor or go into management help them develope a succession plan for the next 2 years of their career. Don't develope a leadership team and never follow through for those who are craving learning and training.

I have been working at State of Ohio part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The best reason for working with the State of Ohio is the population I work with which is MR/DD.

    Cons

The downside to working with the State of Ohio is that they really do not listen to staff suggestions.

    Advice to Management

Some advice I would give management is to listen to your staff they know the clients better than you do because they work with the clients everyday all day.
