Reviews about "good benefits"

Pros
Excellent benefits and good treatment
Cons
Seasonal work ends too soon :(
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Benefits are good Flexible schedules Decent life/work balance Union
Cons
It can get political between partners and DHS. Bad employees continue to keep a job because of the union. Management is unaware of the work that their staff do as they are always gone in meetings. Hard to move up unless you suck up. The computer prescreens so you have to have the right words on your application to even get an interview with a human. Backstabbing between offices/managers. Most of the jobs are in Salem, so unless you are willing to commute, there are not many opportunities for you.

Stable, secure position with some flexibility with scheduling. Hybrid work is nice. Good benefits and retirement. Great colleagues overall. Good mission to support.
Cons
Take a lot of time for a decision to be made. Risk averse culture. Management can end up spending a lot of time trying to improve employee performance in people who, in private, would just be cut loose. Some managers are invested in employee growth while others have little interest and would likely prefer the employee to stay where they are for selfish reasons.

Pros
Good benefits (insurance, pension, etc.), ability to move to other jobs within the state government.
Cons
Strict work environment, not high-paying
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Pay, overtime is plentiful. Vacation. Sick days. Comp time. All benefits are good. Good health coverage.
Cons
Politics, coworkers, HR, basically keep your mouth shut and lay low. Trust no one. And you're probably going to get hurt. If the pros outweigh the cons and you can stay out of politics and drama you'll do well. Management and behavior support team dont listen to floor staff. Just show up. Support your individual. Make the best of the day. Document. Go home.

Pros
It's a government job and Oregon has a good benefit package for employees.
Cons
It's a government job, with all of the challenges that entails.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Benefits are pretty good. Time off too
Cons
Too much politic and drama.
- Current Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
Health care benefits, a job that ends when you turn the light off, lots of management positions if you want to move into management.
Cons
There is no real progression except into management. Amateur, sophomoric culture built on limited accountability catering to people content in mediocrity. Pay for what you do is weak to downright exploitative. Health care benefit is good, but, you can find same or better in tech or healthcare. Pension is really the only material reason to work here for a long period of time. And as far as 'leadership'.... pretty sure after a colossal failure of such magnitude it should've sent all of them into retirement. Alas, Erickson took the hit. The others? Nope. 'Sure, we failed in a cataclysmic way, but we're the ones that'll fix it!' Sure. We're still using the same outmoded software 2 years after this while they have 4 meetings a day wasting everybody's time to avoid doing any meaningful work.

Working from home is a good benefit.
Cons
Unstable management, bullies, and unprofessional
- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Benefits are good for the most part. I have worked with some great people.
Cons
The union protects the lazy, the tardy and the incompetent. It's frustrating to work along side someone who is paid more because they have worked there longer and have somehow managed to keep their job; some wouldn't have lasted a month in the private sector Some of the people who are promoted to managers have absolutely no management experience and therefore quickly lose control of offices and employees' respect. Policies aren't always followed by some co-workers, creating confusion and frustration among those who do. Morale steadily declines and you're left wondering what in the world you were thinking.
