I worked at State of Wisconsin part-time

    Pros

Quality products and excellent service. Positive outlook.

    Cons

Due to me having plane tickets a year in advance for the holiday season would not be hired this time of the year. Next year will cancel travel plans and this year offered to cancel plans.

    Advice to Management

Please put in job description that no time off is allowed if working seasonally.

I have been working at State of Wisconsin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work/life balance due to amount of sick time earned on top of paid vacation time and personal time. Working in public service as you to feel as if you're helping improve your community.

    Cons

Benefits are cutting back but party does not go up. Having to pay higher % into pension and higher monthly insurance premium with no increase in pay is difficult financially.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, free parking, decent benefits.

    Cons

Unfriendly Management. Lack of pay increases/raises. Promotions and bonuses based on friendships and not based on qualifications. Inadequate training. Too focused on meeting unnecessary numbers based on outdated performance expectations. Disgruntled coworkers. Limited accountability of management by the overseeing agency. The list goes on...

    Advice to Management

    Need all new management.

I have been working at State of Wisconsin full-time

    Pros

Still great benefits despite recent cuts. Interesting work that provides a sense of purpose. Hard work is rewarded.

    Cons

Few chances for raises. Office politics regularly hinder business improvements. Some employees don't care about the work, others take it far too seriously and are always frustrated.

    Advice to Management

Focus on employee morale and retention. Do not be opposed to change.

I worked at State of Wisconsin full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, good hands on experience that will allow you to land on your feet somewhere else in 3-5 years, and decent hours depending on the agency.

    Cons

They have a tendency to burnout their best workers, the good ole ten percent of the people do ninety percent of the work management style. They need to find a way to move the dead weight out and find ways to retain the best and brightest public servants.

I worked at State of Wisconsin (More than a year)

    Pros

Laid back. Not too demanding. Friendly co-workers. Strives to recognize employees to offset not great pay. Slowly catching up to the pace of the real world with respect to technology but still not catching up fast enough.

    Cons

Too laid back and not forward-looking; the organization lives in the past.

    Advice to Management

Give clearer instructions. Have better understanding of the skills needed for an analyst's position. Either be more honest about advancement opportunities or be willing to expand job responsibilities if the employee desires to compensate for lack of advancement opportunities.
