I worked at Stater Bros. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Anniversary check, a minimum of 24 hours a week, unionized so it's hard to get fired, flexible scheduling, works around schooling

    Cons

It's sometimes hard to get time off, seniority is huge here, if you have more hours than someone that has seniority over you, they can take your hours

I have been working at Stater Bros. part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Approachable management, clear guidelines, union protections

    Cons

Not enough hours, costly strict policies regarding uniforms (which are outdated and unflattering,) not enough training

    Advice to Management

Better training for new hires (especially those holding their very first job.) Training consists of an HR checklist and no actual training. More hours PLEASE.

I worked at Stater Bros. (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great insurance through the union.

    Cons

Working in service departments is dangerously stressful due to under-staffing.

    Advice to Management

Find a better way to handle your low margin business than to dangerously understaff and treating your store staff like they are expendable.

I have been working at Stater Bros. part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great feeling of satisfaction helping the customers. The other employees are like one big family.

    Cons

Short breaks. They run a tight ship. Almost like being in the military.

    Advice to Management

Better training necessary for new hires. Tell us when to take are 10 min breaks. You run the show, we should not have to ask for a break.

I worked at Stater Bros. part-time

    Pros

Leaving the store and never going back.

    Cons

Was told this was a part time position. I guess it still counts as part time if you schedule me 39 hours a week.
Hours were posted once a week and were totally random. There was no chance of planning anything in advance as the management threw away any scheduling requests.
Management once tried to tell me my hair cut was inappropriate and then became very defensive when I pointed out several male employees had the same hair cut.

    Advice to Management

Do literally the opposite of everything you were doing.
