Massive Confusion, Endless Meetings, Collective Chaos!

Sep 20, 2012 - IT Supervisor in Las Vegas, NV

    Pros

    - Once the benefits kick in (currently at the six month mark) they're pretty good considering you have an option for an HMO (even for family) and pay nothing. - Smart group of people that you get to work with -- at least in my department -- who are engaged and passionate about what they're doing. - Most of the equipment (I'm in a cube) is pretty up-to-date and well-maintained to include chairs, cubicles, computers, phones, etc. - Plenty of other perks like discounts around town for being an employee, very cheap lunches, reduced tuition at Capella University, and even discounts with big cell phone carriers like Sprint. - Working for a big employer like this will certainly help your resume! - Because of the above, this is an excellent place for young professionals just getting their starts.

    Cons

    - No room for upward mobility if you're ambitious -- they'll feed you carrots till the end of time in a bid to keep your talents around though! - Way too many useless meetings -- seems some management uses this to validate their jobs. - Management has very little understanding of the technical aspect of things and have the tendency to overstate when deliverables can be turned in because of this. - Way below market rates on salary... Way, way below. For me it's in the tune of some $20k...

    Pros

Station casinos has an excellent culture in it's workplace. The benifits are great, the people are amazing, and the place itself if down right beautiful.

    Cons

I wouldn't say that there aren't any cons in the station casino world. I love what I do and the people are amazing.

    Salaried Supervisor

Jan 2, 2018 - Salaried Supervisor in Henderson, NV

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The company provides a "team work" atmosphere through out all of the properties. Their management / PSD classes are very beneficial to help succeed in a leadership position. The company does like to promote from within, which make a team member strive to do well and be consistent.

    Cons

Sometimes promoting from within, you don't get the best qualified person because you're normally recommended by a sub-par superior that is lacking in leadership. "All who you know" and not in a good way is still prevalent in this company. Salaried team members have not received a raise in over 5 years. Hourly team members do get yearly raises and there is a pay variance between salaried vs. hourly from $.10 - $.20 per hour - relatively speaking. Where's the incentive to become or strive to be salaried.

Greatest company I've ever worked for

    Pros

Great training, terrific upper management, fantastic environment, incredible benefits, steady schedule, transparent opportunities for growth.

    Cons

As a slot supervisor I'm unable to gamble here (and it's the closest casino to me), Team Dining Room doesn't serve food I like from 12am to 8am. Seriously, the ONLY negatives I could come up with.
