I have been working at Statistics Canada full-time

    Pros

    - Along with contributions to a defined benefit pension plan, Statistics Canada offers retirement planning assistance and phased-in work options to help those nearing retirement transition -- additionally, the organization extends health benefits to retirees (with no age limit) - Statistics Canada supports employees who are new mothers with maternity and parental leave top-up payments (up to a full year of paid leave) and provides parental top-up to new fathers and adoptive parents (to 93% of salary for up to 37 weeks) - Statistics Canada encourages ongoing employee development through tuition subsidies for job-related courses, subsidies for professional accreditation, opportunities for formal mentoring, and a variety of in-house and online training programs

    Cons

Some of the IT services are now managed by SSC.

I have been working at Statistics Canada full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-reasonable pay -flexible working hours - Good start for new graduates with bachelor's degree

    Cons

-Statcan is not a very good start for people with Master’s degree, comparing with other federal government departments as it’s recruitment program is not as good as other departments’. It also take longer time to promote to EC-05. Moreover, as a recruit, you are required to take some boring and useless courses. I recommend people with Master’s degree to applied other federal government departments. -located in Ottawa
