    Pros

Statoil is a great place to work that will reward you if you apply yourself. The benefits are fantastic (especially the healthcare and vacation policy). The work is challenging but the amount of personal responsibility given to make an impact is refreshing. Yes, there are some bad leaders at Statoil as there will be at any other company. The Revenue manager has been a game changer the past 9 months and is the best leader I have ever had. This place has been one of my favourite jobs and I would recommend Statoil to anyone who isn't afraid of rewarding hard work. My team is fantastic and there isn't a day that goes by where we don't laugh and have a good time.

    Cons

There are times that Statoil will frustrate you. This will happen but you have to remember that these frustrations don't last and there are improvements occurring. Pay could be better.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on hiring the right external people and promoting talented internal employees who know what they are doing.

I worked at Statoil full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Statoil Houston - there are none.

    Cons

This company is farce, no reality to what a real oil and gas company does. They don't do much at all really, except run everyone ragged with their schemes to earn a profit. Norway pays for all of it.

People - A handful of great little people, otherwise a never-ending series of attempts to make improvements with no real rewards. All lie, cheat and steal, bully, coerce to get their sin to play you as a puppet.

Leaders - some are good people, some very knowledgeable, but would play their own mothers if they were under them. This is all for nothing, there is no profit. End result is people work out of fear...

    Advice to Management

Nothing..bad environment fosters bad people and practices. These values of yours are not reaching the masses who need them.

I have been working at Statoil full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent company overall. I find the management to have a very good attitude. One of their stated goals is to be "humble". Both myself (20+ years) and a colleague of mine (30+ years) in the industry are amazed to hear such an admirable goal for management. I like how friendly everyone is, including management. I have worked at another very good major oil company and the atmosphere at Statoil is even better.

I really like how Statoil has hired senior staff with many years of experience from all the major oil companies. It really leads to diversity of thought in problem solving.

I find everyone to be friendly and wanting to be helpful.

    Cons

No many - It is a very lean exploration organization and thus has not been able to do the massive amount of background science in US and GoM that other majors have done with huge staff numbers over the last 30 years. So playing a bit of "catch up"

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. You are very sensible and pragmatic. You are easier to work with than the management at my previous employer which is another major oil company.

I have been working at Statoil as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

4 unique values from other companies; open, caring, hands-on, courageous, that allow the work place to be very collaborative while also challenging upper management. Great company to work for!

    Cons

Management structure a bit difficult to understand due to being a European company but after a while you'll understand it.

    Advice to Management

Encourage to challenge their ideas and very open for constructive feedback.
