I have been working at Staybridge Suites full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Front desk staff is a fun job, great to get to know long term guests. Stress-free job, with decent pay for such low-skill work.

    Cons

Bad hours, often understaffed, guests will get mad about things completely out of your control, but you still have to manage it without blowing your cool.

I worked at Staybridge Suites full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly atmosphere. A lot of down time. You learn the ins and outs of the hotel industry. If you like to interact with people, and are using in a good mood, then this might be a good job to gain experience!

    Cons

From my personal experience, some of the cons were that the pay is very low. I don't understand how you expect someone to be on their feet the whole time, engaging, smiling and processing all guest services properly but be paid very low. You lose motivation this way!

    Advice to Management

    Increase pay!

Employees are focused on guest service, happy, engaging and educated.

I worked at Staybridge Suites full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Close knit, friendly staff and management. Guests belong to an international crowd, with a lot of tourists coming by for a varying, adventurous experience. Problem solving gurus will feel at home!

    Cons

Smaller staff creates more individual responsibility. Dramatic drops in pace during certain hours of operation can create for an unsteady work experience. The independent management reduces chances for promotions or transfers.

    Advice to Management

Promotional limitations should be discussed up front during the interview process, as should the independent nature of the branch. Any additional responsibilities outside the job description should also be discussed up front.

I have been working at Staybridge Suites full-time

    Pros

My hotel is relatively small, so I'm given a lot of authority and it's pretty easy to keep up with all going-ons. Due to it being an extended stay, I also have a lot of chances to make a good impression on guests. It can be pretty rewarding, and I don't feel restricted when I have to make executive decisions (no need to ask my manager for permission on every little thing).

    Cons

It's customer service; some days you won't feel like humoring the guests who have outrageous requests and even more outrageous attitudes. The company cares a lot about us, but the individual cultures of the specific hotels can really make or break your experience. Great teams = great time. Not so great teams...

    Advice to Management

Screen the people you hire a little better. If the job requires being on a computer 99% of the time, hire someone who knows how to log in to Windows.
