I worked at Ste Michelle Wine Estates (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company culture and people! They really want their employees to succeed and grow with their company.

    Cons

Busy summer, lots of overtime and not well scheduled concert season. Went from weeks of nothing to everything at once.

I have been working at Ste Michelle Wine Estates (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This is a company that truly values its people, at every level. The benefits package is one of the best I've seen in my career, the pay is good, but the real value in this company is not in dollars and cents but in the people who work here. They strive not only to hire people who are qualified, but to hire people who are great to be around. Employees are encouraged to share ideas and the company has invested a great deal in leadership and creating opportunities for growth for all of its employees. The company has a strong focus on quality, from its wines to the performance of its people. Rarely do you see a company with so many 25+ year employees. This is a great place to work.

    Cons

In Eastern WA it can be a long commute.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening, keep seeking to create opportunities, keep hiring good talent, keep making great products.

I worked at Ste Michelle Wine Estates full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some really great people that are passionate about wine and their jobs. Most of the executives are extremely bright and business savvy.

    Cons

The Operation's side of the business does not give the same opportunities to women as it does to men. You need to be very politically savvy to progress on the Operations side of the business.

    Advice to Management

Make sure company values are consistently followed across the company.

I worked at Ste Michelle Wine Estates part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really like the wines and there were nice discounts.

    Cons

On some days there were long hours and there were few breaks.

    Advice to Management

I would hire a few more people in the shop to keep customers occupied.

I have been working at Ste Michelle Wine Estates full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits package. This is the only reason most people are still here. The smaller wineries are still a good atmosphere.

    Cons

Upper management lives in the spin zone. They only listen to a few of there pets and have absolutely no clue what is going on.

    Advice to Management

Have a third party company interview your hourly employees about job satisfaction. No one is going to be honest talking to anyone in upper management or HR. Stop listening to a select few and start listing to the workers about the real problems.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Growing company in a growing industry, good opportunities for promotion due to high turnover and poor hiring pool, makes a good product, lots of good people trying their best here

    Cons

Stagnant and sometimes downright retarded management, CEO doesn't seem to care much about operations, lots of good ideas at ground-level ignored by management in favor of status quo

    Advice to Management

Hire some people with fresh ideas. Hire people who know how to logically analyze elements of the business. Weed out managers who have occupied the same chair for fifteen or more years.
