I have been working at Ste Michelle Wine Estates part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Non-management co-workers were great to work with for the most part.

    Cons

Middle management staff in Guest Services are generally unprofessional and will have no problem reprimanding employees in front of customers, actually makes them look bad not the employee.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees, whether part-time or full-time, with some semblance of respect. Most of us are highly educated and have had a successful career prior to working for your organization. We are not idiots.

I worked at Ste Michelle Wine Estates full-time

    Pros

    - You get a discount on wine
    - The company as a role is loved by the community
    - Pension and good benefits

    Cons

    - Archaic company. Still uses 'Lotus Notes' to operate (most people won't even know what that is...)
    - Feels like they try and still operate like a small shop- when in fact they are huge now. Most all people have been there for 15+ years. Not always a good sign when those people are leading the company and have never had outside experience with evolving and staying relevant.
    - Slow to change. Anything that could be positive to help change is so held back by the holding company and existing ways of doing things.
    - Fear based leadership. The sales structure operates off fear and intimidation. This creates undue stress within the organization and chickens running around with their heads cut off but really getting to no goal.
    - You will work and work for months on something and may never really achieve anything. Its like trying to push a boulder uphill.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people in higher positions who will try and influence* positive* change.

    Pros

Good benefits package. This is the only reason most people are still here. The smaller wineries are still a good atmosphere.

    Cons

Upper management lives in the spin zone. They only listen to a few of there pets and have absolutely no clue what is going on.

    Advice to Management

Have a third party company interview your hourly employees about job satisfaction. No one is going to be honest talking to anyone in upper management or HR. Stop listening to a select few and start listing to the workers about the real problems.

I have been working at Ste Michelle Wine Estates (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This is a company that truly values its people, at every level. The benefits package is one of the best I've seen in my career, the pay is good, but the real value in this company is not in dollars and cents but in the people who work here. They strive not only to hire people who are qualified, but to hire people who are great to be around. Employees are encouraged to share ideas and the company has invested a great deal in leadership and creating opportunities for growth for all of its employees. The company has a strong focus on quality, from its wines to the performance of its people. Rarely do you see a company with so many 25+ year employees. This is a great place to work.

    Cons

In Eastern WA it can be a long commute.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening, keep seeking to create opportunities, keep hiring good talent, keep making great products.
