    Pros

Great PTO (3 weeks in your first year!!), 401k match, and awesome core values. We also receive a few days a year to go and volunteer in our community and get paid for it. This is definitely not something you see in most companies.

    Cons

The company has had more growth in the last few years then it can handle. I think as a whole, the company is slowly (but surely) starting to "figure it out", and are focusing more on getting better, rather then getting bigger. I am excited to see what's to come for us!

I have been working at Steadfast Companies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has a great mission statement and they appear to be trying to get back to operating within that mission statement. They are making some strategic partnerships that should make for financial longevity of the company. The CEO appears to have a heart for the people, even though the VP's and RM's don't share his heart.

    Cons

They have incompetent Regional Management Leadership. Many Regional Managers are receiving kick backs from vendors. There are a few Regional Managers that do not know how to lead well. They don't have any idea how to run a property and are solely focused on how to make reports look good. One in particular has made reference to a staff member as "trash". The Regional Managers are cliquish, if you just want to do your job and not be in the clicks they harass you.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job at screening your Regional Leaders and above. Many of them are faking it and your site staff are being abused as a result. While the Mission Statement and Core Values are exercised at the corporate level it is severely lost as it trickles down.

I worked at Steadfast Companies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay, allowed to live at other properties besides your own and still use employee discount, bonuses are frequent and competitive.

    Cons

Unorganized, lack of job security, managers are not receptive to feedback, each community runs entirely different which means policies are changed often and not properly followed by all, corporate and on site managers make up policies as they go along, people are often promoted based on friendship and not actual skill which results in high turnover and more disorganization, too much gossip and finger pointing, certain regionals set unrealistic goals and do not listen to on site staff with differing opinions, managers are often not trained well and in turn do not train staff well, professional and highly skilled employees usually quit or are let go so it’s hard to get close to anyone in your same position who can be of any help, if you voice your opinion and upper management disagrees you will be written up if you happen to not buy into their demands or jump when they say so, if they want someone they are friends with to have your job they will relocate or fire you to promote them regardless of skill set and blanket it as “promoting within”, Human Resources is also highly unskilled so if you feel you’re being bullied or discriminated against, they will not talk to you and will instead patronize you and speak to your manager about you without asking for your input until it’s too late, if you worked for another more successful company before, you will easily and quickly see that Steadfast does not follow all Fair Housing and Employment Laws nor do they follow important industry standards. Certain regions often have unwritten rules that you will be disciplined for if you break them but because they’re blatantly illegal- they do not put them in writing. If you say anything about their lack of professionalism or voice concern over things you feel are unfair, prepare to be passive aggressively taunted until you quit, are unceremoniously fired, or you sue.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring and promoting so quickly without being sure the person is fit for the position, make one set of rules to be followed by all properties in the same region and not based off of how the regional manager feels that week, be more professional and honest with your employees instead of gossiping and involving corporate without taking the necessary stops on site first, be sure that your trainers are trained well so that everyone else feels more confident in their knowledge and skills, start being fair to all employees to avoid being sued for discrimination. You cannot be the best in the nation if you ignore real concerns and input from people who have worked for bigger and more successful companies and are telling you that your practices and policies are discriminatory and unfair to both employees and residents. Pay close attention to community managers with high resident and employee turnover at their communities so you can better understand why your overall reviews from both are so low and voice the same concerns. Actually live by your core values and treat all of your employees like they are important and not like they are disposable.

I have been working at Steadfast Companies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This company invests a lot in each employee's training and growth. I work with very experienced individuals that are extremely intelligent and always happy to assist each other. Each employee receives in depth, on line training, that corresponds to the employee's department. This training would cost several hundred dollars to any non-employee that wanted to purchase it. Steadfast provides certain benefits to you automatically, that you don't have to pay into. There is a strong corporate structure that helps support and guide the Steadfast communities and they are always willing to help! What more can you ask for?

    Cons

There is a great deal of information to learn. Be organized and flexible.

    Advice to Management

My manager is an extremely experienced professional. I hope to learn as much as possible from her. I have no advice in this area.
