    Pros

Management was awesome at stein Mart . I did have conflict with 1 manager but the rest are great managers and great environment.

    Cons

They need to do better in air temperature because it always felt hot in there especially working as cashier .

I worked at Stein Mart part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Easy to get hired part time. It was OK for me as a stop gap until something full time turned up elsewhere. Ideal for students I guess.

    Cons

Very few full time opportunities unless you make it to supervisor or manager level and no benefits as a part time employee. As a new associate you are given only with the hours other employees don't want. Pay is low.

    I worked at Stein Mart

    Pros

    Worked with my school schedule

    Cons

Minimum wage, grumpy managers, negative atmosphere. They are a bit archaic. I didn't like working here.

    Advice to Management

Don't be so cheap, buy a decent vacuum to vacuum with. After a long day on our feet you want us to push around a dinosaur of a vacuum cleaner around all those racks.

I have been working at Stein Mart part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Co-workers are very nice and supportive. All realize they are in the same situation. Customers like the store and selection. They understand to not expect high degree of customer service. Some great values available customers.

    Cons

Management is concerned only about how the store looks and is disorganized. Store is extremely understaffed and requirements made on associates is overwhelming. Most are unhappy and morale low. Does not reflect a professionally run company. Hired as sales associate, a function that is extremely low on the priority scale. If more emphasis was placed on selling, no telling where this company could go.

    Advice to Management

Talk to associates without making them fear retribution. Only interaction with associates is providing directives for the next 5 minutes. Directives are a moving target. When Senior Management visits a store, they should spend some time with associates and not ignore them like they are a disease.
