I worked at Steiner Leisure full-time

    Pros

The only good thing about the job is the amount of countries you get to visit on the ship. Even then, you only get to see a lot of countries if you get lucky with your ship, otherwise you will be doing the same 3 or 4 countries for 9 months. Its also very rare you are allowed off the ship.

    Cons

Very long work hours, little pay, little respect from employers and a lot of the guests, zero freedom to choose your hours or what you do in your job. Never really allowed off the ship. Incredibly boring.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees greater freedom in their jobs and work hours. Also allow employees a full day off once in a while, 9 months without a day off is very tough

I have been working at Steiner Leisure full-time

    Pros

There are full time hours. Some of the therapists are awesome to work with. Therapists and cosmetologists will do services for you aka spa perks.

    Cons

Upper management is disgraceful, doesn't try and help their employees. If things are not how they like it, it shows with your schedule being messed with. The company lies to you immediately after hiring you. You are told they will work with you if you are going to school but they actually refuse to. Schedules you request, you are giving the opposite. If you request anything that may help your quality of life they do the opposite. Anyone with children they secretly despise. Employees that have children are not dependable, because the children come first and the company is not the first and main priority.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire people with children since they despise that the children and family comes first. Be more for the employees instead of doing things that will make them unhappy. Don't lie to your new hires stating that you will work around their schedule for school when in fact you won't. Life is not ONLY about this company employees have other priorities and this company needs to respect that.

I have been working at Steiner Leisure full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

SOME nice people management NOT included!!!

    Cons

Hours, Pay, Inexperienced upper management, poor leadership,

    Advice to Management

Train more and have more experience. Upper management has VERY POOR management skills and knowledge. Learn how to be human beings and treat your employees as such. Work with employees instead of against them. You are a billion dollar company you can afford better benefits for your workers. This company is a joke and has employees just walking out constantly over the amount of BS that they are forced to deal with. It's all about selling product and doing things that make the employees miserable. If you ask for anything that could enhance your life for the better they do the opposite just to spite you. This company is not worth the crap you have to deal with. It's the devil in disguise and they break the law a lot. Don't waste your time with this place it will negatively impact your life!!! No raises no matter how long you've worked there or how good of an employee you are. You have to switch positions in the company just to get more bs to deal with and another dollar. This company is sad and not worth anyone's time.

I have been working at Steiner Leisure full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It toughens you up. You learn to work very long hours, under very unpleasant conditions for very little pay and no appreciation, so you grow a thick skin.

    Cons

The corporate culture is based on fear, lies, and thievery. The basic business plan is to suck as much money out of employees as possible, to use them up and spit them out. If you want to be treated like an animal and learn to evaluate other people based solely on how much you can use them for, this is the job for you! Truly the worst job I've ever had.

    Advice to Management

Get out while you can. This ship is sinking.

I worked at Steiner Leisure full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I cannot recall any pros, except location and receiving some Disneyland benefits

    Cons

they rape you on salary and tips(none) . I have never felt more uncared for, underappreciated and devalued as an employee.

    Advice to Management

the employees make the company, not the product or ill-performed services. why would you make it so difficult in every turn for the employee. taking away tips, no shows, and benefits.

I have been working at Steiner Leisure as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

See new places, meet many people

    Cons

Poor treatment of spa team. We work 14-16 hours a day, making very little money, near 200-300 a month. Constantly yelled at, Yes, yelled at, talked down to if not enough make up on and then expected to go out and smile at guest after youve been chewed out. Ive had to complain to ship director for missing my meal breaks on purpose by manager. if you dont hit hourly target of selling products you dont go to lunch and by the time you get released for lunch the mess hall is closed.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example, but by a Good example.

    Pros

There are some very hard working and well meaning people at the company. One can learn a lot from them.

    Cons

Disrespectful and abusive of employees. Anachronistic early 20th century management style; very patronizing. Entire organization driven by fear reacting to fear.

    Advice to Management

Please treat people with dignity and respect. It's not just a "nice" thing to do, it would actually improve bottom line results.
