I worked at Steinhafels part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Growing company and a market leader, good policies that makes selling easier, good advertising to drive traffic, 401k match and profit sharing, competitive commission pay, and ok insurance plans.

    Cons

Company has stated values that it doesn't live by, minimum standards for production increased by decent intervals each of the last 3-4 years causing a stressful environment that is very cut throat. Treatment of sales staff is not consistent and rules are not clearly laid out; not that rules matter as long as the sale is made mentality.

    Pros

Store environment is beautiful, very well-cleaned and designed. Good employee discounts on furniture. Company will spare no expense to make sure the employees are given what tools they need to complete their job to the best of their abilities.

    Cons

Work atmosphere is negatively competitive due to sales quotas and poor market. Some on the management team try to rule with an iron fist.

    Advice to Management

Offer more positive feedback and encouragement, acknowledge jobs well-done. Use constructive criticism along with professional respect that can promote personal growth rather than turn employees off.

    I worked at Steinhafels full-time

    Pros

The pay is good for the area and the people are mostly friendly. There is also very good work life balance, nothing is expected over 40 hours.

    Cons

There is not much room to grow here. The environment is not challenging and most people are comfortable. The environment is the stereotypical corporate feel.

    Advice to Management

Modernize your culture, make it feel like a 21st century business.

I have been working at Steinhafels part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very nice store. I'd shop there in a second but most of the people who work there are looking for employment elsewhere.

    Pretty good bennies.

    Cons

They claim they are "Family Friendly" to employees. They make you come in on days off. You have to work EVERY weekend. If you want a day off or take a vacation you have to ask way in advance and are not notified if you are allowed to go until RIGHT before. There was even an email sent out saying "Don't book a flight until we tell you you can" They make you work until 9 3 days a week.

If you are 1 minute late punching in time clock....no matter what the reason. They write you up. You are required to stand/walk through your whole shift.

100 percent commission. Required to go to all day learning sessions without pay.

    Advice to Management

Remember your money makers (employees) are human!
