    I worked at Steinway full-time

    Pros

Great company to work for. Management make themselves available to you whenever you need anything. Pay is fair.

    Cons

One Saturday a month off. However, that is sales for you.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Steinway (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Was a great company. Freedom. Great GM.

    Cons

Purchased by another company, everything changed. No longer carries downloads or streams.

    I worked at Steinway full-time

    Pros

Incredible brand. Product you can take pride in.

    Cons

Queens office is out of the way. I get the sense that Steinway is still looking for the bottom. Demand for pianos is dropping and they don't have a plan. Private Equity owners are disconnected from the business and don't have the patience for any real changes. Internally, old-timers block change and the corporate HQ is incredibly bloated.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the vultures eating value out of your brand while contributing nothing. If you don't have the stomach for a real turnaround plan, come to terms with the reality of the situation. Cut production, cut expenses and operate as a bare bones wholesaler.

    Positive Outlook

    I worked at Steinway full-time

    Pros

-Good personnel moves (ie bad people get fired, good people get promoted)
-Some real treats as perks of working at a piano company - like free concerts in the factory

    Cons

-Finance dept almost rarely held meetings
-CFO had too many responsibilities, made it incredibly hard to develop business

    Advice to Management

Senior management structure is confusing even to middle/upper management. Do better at driving strategy through out the company so others can contribute.

    Cons

    Layoffs at times.

    I worked at Steinway full-time

    Pros

    Prestigious brand
    Best product on the market
    Passionate team

    Cons

    No career development
    Business strategy in flux
    Lack of diverse leaders

    Pros

Steinway & Sons makes the best piano in the world.

    Cons

The piano industry is not as booming as it once was.

I have been working at Steinway full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If the person interested is good in sales, and naturally inclined to interact with people, this might be a very good fit.

    Cons

Salaries are commission based. Therefore, when the markets are down and people are not buying pianos, the salary can be "at risk". It is an interesting market, and the true of the matter is that less and less people are buying pianos.
