    I worked at Stericycle full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Used to be steady 8-5 office job. Has flexible hours now and part time position available.

    Cons

    The management, they are hired off of connections and not previous experience and knowledge. They have no idea what being a professional means.

    Advice to Management

    Verify those resumes and find a new staffing agency.

    I worked at Stericycle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Growth organization. Recognize growth from within. "Legacy" Stericycle team is amazing and focuses on Core Values and one team one goal mentality.

    Cons

    Value of legacy Stericycle team members is gone. Lack of focus on compliance. Lack of focus on core values which the company engrains in to it's team members. Used to be an amazing place to work but not any longer. Pushing out legacy Stericycle team members due to the poor leadership of Shred-it organization which was recently acquired.

    Advice to Management

    Start walking the walk and not just talking the talk. You say you are a compliance organization; however, you continue to look the other way. You say you focus on the core values but you have senior Exec level leaders who depict the complete opposite of them. Everyone is out for themselves and there no longer is a "one team one goal" mentality. The Shred-it leadership team may bring values/knowledge to the table; however, they lie, cover up, and far from live the core values. You know this, but you choose to ignore this.

    Challenging and exciting. Good employees attitudes

    Cons

    District managers are animals... my way or the highway attitude and in this day and age is unacceptable

    I worked at Stericycle (More than a year)

    Pros

    The starting pay is excellent for a Class B driver. The dispatcher, supervisor, and co-workers were all decent people.

    Cons

    No overtime and work weeks that average 50+ hours. Working in the back of a truck during a mid-west winter with temps below 0 on a regular basis. Most trucks now have heat and when the heater actually works its not bad. Loading, handling, sorting, and packaging hazardous materials all day long in the back of a box truck. Dealing with Wal-Mart employee's. Extended trips out of state.

    Advice to Management

    The management at Stericycle is above average and they have an excellent training program. I would rather have been on an hourly wage with the option of overtime.

    Pros

    Coworkers in certain departments make it a pleasant place to work. Overall friendly employees. Hardship fund for employees. Paid bi-weekly.

    Cons

    No job growth or development. Low pay. High turnover. Poor management. No upper management diversity. Temp to hire almost nonexistent.

    Advice to Management

    Hire outside professionals to help with proper training. Keep conversations confidential. Strive to implement core values. Truly listen to your employees to help promote growth and a better atmosphere.

    The people on my team were quite lovely.
    Holiday events were nice

    No room for growth
    No one to go to with concerns,
    Constant fear of losing your job

    Pros

    Great benefits, the hours are great, team work between my coworkers, we get paid holidays, I have vacation and paid time off that helps me spend time with family

    Cons

    only thirty min lunch, they do not give reviews on time, they do not talk with employees like they should. We do not do anything as company fun

    Pros

    The management is very flexible with your schedule in the event that you may need to change your days off.

    Cons

    During inclement weather, management doesn't care how dangerous it may be to come to work. Also, they tend to assign job duties that are NOT in your job description without paying you more for it. Expect new employees that do minimal work to get paid more than those that have been there longer and have a bigger work load.

    Good, skilled team members throughout the company
    Flexibility to move around to other rules within the company

    Cons

    Too much Micro-Management
    Overly reactive environment in many areas
    Management not clear enough in communicating job success criteria during the interview process
    Passive-aggressive tendencies

    Advice to Management

    Bring in more seasoned leaders (managers, directors, and VP's) and empower them to execute on their expertise.

    Constructively listen and respond to team members who are truly trying to improve the company.

    Create clearer job descriptions and remove "and other duties as assigned" from all JD's.
