    Current Employee - Assistant Manager

I have been working at Steven Madden full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Laid back job and not strict at all. Retail Steve Madden pays better especially in a management position than Outlet Steve Madden. Very Flexible with schedule.

    Cons

You have to work weekends and black Friday gets a bit hectic.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Steven Madden full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun, relaxed environment. Mobility is somewhat possible.

    Cons

Insufficient support from upper management (management outside of the store). Lack of technological advancement.

    Advice to Management

My advice to district management would be to be more available and support in store staff more dependently.

I worked at Steven Madden full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There was a good discount, good people to work with, everyone was supportive of each other, and the benefits were good.

    Cons

The hours were long, and you worked by yourself a lot. The department stores also carrying Steve Madden products dominated the market.

    Pros

50% discount Free pair of shoes for spring. Free pair of shoes for fall. That's pretty much the only good things.

    Cons

You work all weekends. They schedule you to close and open the very next morning. No Work/life balance, you literally don't have time for friends and family. Mentally exhausting. No communication. Didn't pay what they offered. There's only ONE enrollment for health insurance and if you miss out during the enrollment then you are out of luck until the next year. Upper management is rude Nobody gets held...

    Advice to Management

Learn to communicate better. Don't make promises you can't keep. Listen to your employees. Give managers a chance to have weekends off my god!

I worked at Steven Madden full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Establised brand which customers seek out, which makes selling easier.

    Cons

Management is very sneaky. Nice to your face, but will gladly stab you in back.

    Advice to Management

Don't ask your employees to dress as sexy as possible when Steve Madden himself visits. Asking them to wear the shortest dress they own with the most cleavage is inappropriate, plus the interaction with him will be awkward enough.
