I worked at Steven Madden full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, everybody is super friendly, and a relaxed environment but still functioning. There is no dress code (except for "wearing Steve Madden shoes") and you get to participate in the Steve Madden Music concerts and International photoshoots.

    Cons

There really isn't too much room for creativity especially since it has to be approved by the higher ups, but you're always encouraged to try. Sometimes gets super busy but most of the time it's a consistent work load.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Steven Madden full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Not many other than shoe discounts.

    Cons

Dedication and commitment are overlooked or taken for granted rather than rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Management has a very bad habit of getting personally involved in the lives of the employees. Such as parents that wish to become "friends" with their children.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Steven Madden full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good Benefits. Good mentors if you are lucky enough to work for one of the very few good managers. Great place to be if you want to learn fast and move fast. Lot's of great coworkers. Great resources for teams.

    Cons

HORRIBLE culture. Terrible management style. HR is a joke. Sexual harassment happens on every corner an screaming managers are everywhere. It's a very intimidating place to work if you do not have thick skin. Expectation for employees to work very late hours, awful work/family balance.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your culture, in your employees. Appreciate people and show them that you do. Hire all new HR. Don't have BBQ at the disgusting parking lot and make it "mandatory"

I have been working at Steven Madden full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A pretty calm working environment - no staying late or working crazy "fashion" hours. Casual.

    Cons

A lot of drama and secrets. Conniving bosses and co-workers. Empty promises. Lower than average pay. Poor benefits that change (but never improve) come every new year. A giant lot of the same type of person - not much diversity in terms of artistry or creativity.

    Advice to Management

Hire actual managers - talented people who know what they are doing.

    Cons

Disorganized, unprofessional environment, poor medical insurance, late hours, some people are very much arrogant, lack of support systems in overall

I worked at Steven Madden full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Nice corporate discount, good benefits, 401k, annual bonus, nice office.

    Cons

Poor upper management on the corporate side, lack of leadership, old school mentality not open to new ideas, too much favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to senior level employee's, give credit where credit is due, conduct more meetings with the team so everyone is on the same page.

    "Dont waste your time !"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Former Employee - Assistant Designer in New York, NY

      I worked at Steven Madden

      Pros

Okay health benefits, and the keurig is cool.

      Cons

The Micro managing is pretty intense. You will end up staying past 6 a lot and working by yourself. People pretend to befriend you and then later throw you under the ring of fire. Everyone complains about how much they hate working there, you will find everyone has 2-3 little groups within the office and they will talk nonsense about their job and the VPs all day long. Do not waste your time working here, you...

I worked at Steven Madden full-time

      Pros

Chill dress code, Employee discounts, free samples

      Cons

Company plays favorites and will fire you if you stand up for yourself. Uses terms like "team player" as a disguise for being a slave. Expects you to work for free, often. Untrustworthy and conniving mgmt/staff

      Advice to Management

All of management needs to be replaced.
