    Pros

A company that is still doing well despite the struggling retail market.

    Cons

They don't care about retaining their employees. You aren't seen as an asset. They are fine with mediocre work.

    Advice to Management

Promote and reward people who earn it.

I have been working at Steven Madden full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A pretty calm working environment - no staying late or working crazy "fashion" hours. Casual.

    Cons

A lot of drama and secrets. Conniving bosses and co-workers. Empty promises. Lower than average pay. Poor benefits that change (but never improve) come every new year. A giant lot of the same type of person - not much diversity in terms of artistry or creativity.

    Advice to Management

Hire actual managers - talented people who know what they are doing.

I have been working at Steven Madden full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free breakfast on Fridays, decent health insurance and great coworkers.

    Cons

Everyone in the corporate office is unhappy and underpaid unless you are related to someone in senior management. There is no room for growth as performance appraisals are not based on performance. The main objective is to pay you as little as possible. The company does not care about it's employees.

    Advice to Management

    None. They don't care.

I have been working at Steven Madden full-time

    Pros

Freedom to be self starter. Casual, fun, and fast paced work environment. Lots of cross pollination between divisions. Not corporate. Company is healthy so compensation for ambitious people isn't limited.

    Cons

Disorganization and not the strongest brand direction. It is more of an item business without a long term plan

    Advice to Management

Invest in marketing, the product can't sell itself in a market like this. Make time to establish a strong and clear brand direction and look long term. Sacrifice some short term gains in order to build brand direction. Help employees understand their duties and responsibilities clearly

    Pros

Working for a well known and respected company, location is prime, plenty of hands on experience during market weeks and during market meetings

    Cons

Upper management doesn't see eye to eye with employees, hard to communicate and get thoughts across to upper management/ HR, overworked with too many accounts and work isn't spread amongst teams fairly

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees- when we need help we really need help. happiness goes a long way. If we're unhappy then work will be miserable.
