    Pros

Met some great hard working people at Steve Madden!

    Cons

Company size tends to dilute progress within.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to employees that actually do the day to day and recognize them for it. Again, company size...number scenario.

I have been working at Steven Madden part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

there are great benefits, great people, really great employee discount, flexible with your schedule, really great styles to choose from and can work at several locations

    Cons

hourly wage is minimum wage plus 2% commission, the computer system is very out of date and process of doing things is very old school.

    Advice to Management

Store management is great but it would be nice for upper management to work in the stores more to see what really goes on day to day.

    Pros

Generous discount, 2 pairs of free shoes a year, Micah Pine as a Store Manager

    Cons

Disorganized, Inconsistency all around, Poor management from corporate down to the stores.

    Advice to Management

Better communication from upper management to stores. Better lower management, in general. Update technology and equipment.

I have been working at Steven Madden full-time

    Pros

Discount is good, you get 50% off regular priced items. Capped at $2000, but they take off regular price. So really it's $1000 worth of product.

    Cons

Management is irrational and flips depending on the day. Monday: use more hours... Friday and Saturday cut hours you used to many when you used the exact amount you were told to use.

    Advice to Management

Don't do single openings or closes. You're asking people to steal from you. And then it is somehow the person whom is working fault for going in the back to get a shoe.

  10. "Great Product"

I worked at Steven Madden full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Manageable Workload, Amazing discounts, very early leave time for closing shifts compared to other retail positions

    Cons

Managers are required to be at work for 11 hours if you include one hour lunch. This means your whole day is gone whether you open or close the store. During slow days this can be draining and negatively impact sales.

    Advice to Management

Invest in stockroom square footage, this is the heart of the business. It provides a safe working environment, quick turnaround for customers, and will sell more shoes.
