I worked at Stevens-Henager College full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As long as you do your job there is low pressure. Learn universal professional skills. High ethics. See students earn a degree that they may otherwise never earn at another school (due to the amount of attention and care they get while in school) Educational benefits for you and family. Had great mgmt who cared about me and the customer. Received help when needed. I believe this is a great place to start your career....

    Cons

Cost of education is high in comparaison to local schools. This made some prospective students turn away and current students become upset. Over time this affects your mental state. Uncertainty around the future success of the school due to the department of education scrutiny.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I have been working at Stevens-Henager College full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I actually have worked for SHC/CEHE for over 5 years. I work for the online division - Independence University - and have loved every second of it. The company is great with recognition of employees doing well or employees who improve over time. Lower management is very uplifting and motivating when they see someone struggling. Team moral within the admissions department is amazing. Pay is fantastic, and ability to work...

    Cons

Upper management sometimes uses scare tactics to motivate employees, and more often than not it doesn't work. It just deflates those of us who are lower level employees, and I'd say 8/10 times, the employee ends up either quitting or being let go because the tactic doesn't work and they don't get motivated to improve.

    Advice to Management

To Upper Management: Don't use scare tactics to motivate employees. It doesn't work, and leaves lower level employees feeling deflated and unappreciated. Keep motivating by recognizing those performing well and uplifting those who could use a boost. It has worked really well to motivate me for over 5 years!

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Stevens-Henager College full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are a few great people to work with at the online campus.

    Cons

The company has set itself up to pit each department and campus against each other. There is not a lot of love between directors of each campus. Online brings in the most revenue but is looked down upon by the rest of the campuses. The school is selling education but the directors, ADOA's, managers etc. do not have degrees. Funny that a large number of them are not even willing to get a free degree from Stevens Henager,...

    Advice to Management

Get and education, work together and make this company be something great. Remember a company is only as good as its employees. You treat your employees subpar, you will get the same in return as far as morale and productivity.

    Pros

They are good at rewarding you. There are several award systems in place so you feel like you are being rewarded often. Co-workers are great. It's a nice welcoming group.

    Cons

Some managers are micromanagers. Depending on what team you're on, your job could be the most amazing jobs you've ever had or it could be one of the most frustrating. Even if you are doing really well you still have to have meetings with the managers on a weekly/biweekly basis.

    Advice to Management

Please don't micromanage. Hire people you trust and trust them do their job!

    I worked at Stevens-Henager College

    Pros

Fasted paced environment, fellow employees helpful and nice to work with. The work is challenging, and other employees are quick to help or teach you new tasks. You are given plenty of time to learn the skills needed to do well.

    Cons

Unprofessional work environment, and lots of inappropriate language used while trying to talk to students over the phone. Low student retention levels, and not special needs friendly. The work hours varied everyday, so it made it difficult to plan my family time. There was smoking at the entrance of the building, so if you don't smoke or are allergic that can be an irritation. I have a teaching background and I felt the...
