I worked at Stevens-Henager College full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The majority of the employees were great people and they truly care about the success of the students who attended the campus.

    Cons

The College slowed down drastically when it was put on probation by it's accrediting body and forced to stop enrollment in the programs that a large percentage of students enrolled in. Every campus is different but the campus I worked for had a tenured yet unexperienced/unprofessional management team. They lacked the basic knowledge and skill sets required to be successful leaders. The leaders there were quick to look...

    Advice to Management

Local management needs to be accountable for their actions and take ownership for them personally versus blaming them on others above them. Be honest and forth coming with your employees. When dealing with employee sensitive information don't share or discuss it with individuals that aren't involved, it's very unprofessional.

    I worked at Stevens-Henager College

    Pros

Great place to learn. Great people to work with. Flexible hours.

    Cons

Benefits were horrible. Under paid by a lot when you averaged it out to the other companies in the field of work.

  4. "Stevens-Henager College, or as it is now known, Independence University, does not treat employees well."

I worked at Stevens-Henager College full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I meet some great people working there. I was able to see a positive change in many of the students lives (I worked as an admissions consultant in the on-line division.)

    Cons

The company, however, is a boiler room. It is not, as they maintain, "all about the students" it is all about how many people you sign up for on-line college. they don't care, at the admissions management level, if the student will stay enrolled, or has the skills and abilities to succeed in college, only that they stay enrolled for at least 2 weeks.

    Advice to Management

Learn to care about your employees, drop the political indoctrination, drop the pressure-cooker tactics.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Stevens-Henager College full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are a few great people to work with at the online campus.

    Cons

The company has set itself up to pit each department and campus against each other. There is not a lot of love between directors of each campus. Online brings in the most revenue but is looked down upon by the rest of the campuses. The school is selling education but the directors, ADOA's, managers etc. do not have degrees. Funny that a large number of them are not even willing to get a free degree from Stevens Henager,...

    Advice to Management

Get and education, work together and make this company be something great. Remember a company is only as good as its employees. You treat your employees subpar, you will get the same in return as far as morale and productivity.
