I have been working at Stevens Transport full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good Company so far, the instructors are great especially Sgt. Major great guy! and Lori genuinely caring person. Donna Stephens is stern but she means well and is always helpful. Great company structure. Pay is just ok. I like driving at night because I have trouble sleeping and plus is the night time employees are much nicer midnight safety talks are great, and the night trip planning lady Gina is a joy to deal with

    Cons

A lot of employees are miserable in person and on the phone, getting home on time is very difficult, I was in N.Y. city with a few days until my home time in Florida I was told there weren't any loads going to Florida so I was sent to Pennsylvania to pick up a load going to Ohio, I did it then was told there aren't any loads from there to Florida either tools to take a load from there to Texas that it would be repowered...

    Advice to Management

Since the drivers are always being evaluated, managed & checked on, I believe the driver managers and dispatchers should be too, but I really do think the employees need a morale booster maybe a gym or something

I have been working at Stevens Transport full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

You can drive an awesome, new KW.

    Cons

You could drive for Walmart, or Heartland and drive a crappy truck and maybe wear a polyester monkey suit--but make twice the money!

    Advice to Management

To the new generation: Forget what your professors told you about the spread sheets and P&Ls--it's about customer service, stupid. You are not respected because you never dispatched a truck, changed a tire, or told a Rec. why you are late.

      Pros

Getting started is rough but if you are willing to put in the time and effort you become a name and not just a number. Excellent training. Safety oriented.

      Cons

Better inform on leasing program. Let drivers learn the business FIRST then offer the program. Trainers not ALL on the same page.

      Advice to Management

Listen to drivers. They are your Driving Force.

      Pros

If coming in as a new driver you won't find a better training company. Safety conscious. They want you 100% safe out on the rd. Stevens is a good company to get your feet wet. Good driver managers that work with you to solve our resolve issues. The pay is ok. Your only going to paid what you put into it.

      Cons

Weekends are hard to get someone on the phone. Fixing to install two way dash cams. Not a big fan of benefits. Those could be better.

      Advice to Management

I worked at Stevens Transport full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

You can get your Class A CDL.

      Cons

They try to get everyone into the lease program. It is a very expensive program and if you are a new driver you won't get the miles you need to pay your insurance. If you don't go into the lease program they will look for a bogus reason to terminate you.(Like something as little as saying that you made a u-turn)

      Advice to Management

Treat your drivers better and pay a decent wage. Don't have the management call your drivers liars.Do not keep pulling the drivers off the road and back to the yard for petty stuff. Tell your dispatchers to treat the drivers with dignity!

      Cons

Everything about them. All they want is employee's to pay for their trucks them find another sucker. Don't waste your time. Run away!

      Advice to Management

Learn how to run a company. Stop telling people they have jobs and then turning them down when its time for them to come and work.
