I worked at Stevens Worldwide Van Lines full-time

    Pros

Good health care options for full time personnel. Options for 401k. Nice facility. Regular 8am to 5pm hours for the most part.

    Cons

Employee turnover, both voluntary and involuntary. Family manages the company and is not truly receptive to manager and employee level input. Not a lot of upward mobility for those seeking to advance. Company is not growing.

    Advice to Management

    None needed, they are omnipotent.

    Pros

The best part is that you go somewhere new everyday and get to meet different people from all walks of life.

    Cons

They don't like to give raises they would rather retrain someone than give you a raise, it's never enough no matter how hard you work.

I have been working at Stevens Worldwide Van Lines full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stevens is a conservative company, which means there is good job security. Benefits are really good. Also, there is an Employee stock ownership plan. Many of the managers started at other positions and were promoted into their current jobs. So there is room to grow.

    Cons

    Summer time is really busy.

I have been working at Stevens Worldwide Van Lines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Unfortunately, nothing comes to mind.

    Cons

Employees that provided excellent customer service are not rewarded appropriately, while they are keenly aware of co-workers around them that provide awful customer service and yet t nothing is done about. Department managers blatantly show favoritism, and talk negatively about employees to employees-providing for uncomfortable working environments. HR department consists of one woman, and she favors management over employees, allowing for unprofessional behaviors to go unchecked after being brought to her attention-not professional.

    Advice to Management

Seek a full HR staff. Monitor management behavior that goes unchecked. Show that customer service truly is a priority by removing employees that continually provide horrendous customer service--poll departments to weed these employee's out. Have employees provide anonymous management reviews-find out how your managers are truly performing in the eyes of your employee's. Those are your largest assets. Promote from within.

    Pros

Good benefits package, owned by the employees, cross training opportunities, ability to move up, compeitions

    Cons

Hard to get time off in the busy summer season, it can be stressful depending what department you work in, family members have a lot of the top positions

    Advice to Management

When hiring someone for a job with a promise of a better position as soon as it opens up you should follow through.
