I worked at Stevenson High School as a contractor

    Pros

Everyone really cares about the students and there is a lot of support for them throughout the building. The administration works hard to develop teachers and encourage them to try to new things.

    Cons

There is an enormous amount of pressure on the students. Some of it comes from home, but a lot of it is the community emphasizing "success" and perhaps not clearly defining it in a way that leaves students feeling sufficiently supported.

    Advice to Management

Promote a "wellness" campaign in the building, encouraging students to get enough sleep and eat right and not just "study and do extracurriculars until you drop". The students are very anxious trying to "do it all" as teenagers.

    Pros

some of the people. The pay is terrific for really not alot of work. Did I mention the pay???

    Cons

Management...Such turnover. The evilness by which they ruled was so disheartening. If they treated children the way they treat adults...wow

    Advice to Management

    Get new ones!

    Pros

Good students, pay, and working conditions. People are generally very friendly, which makes it a nice place to go to work on a Monday morning. There is no cash flow problem and it is nice to know that the school will always be well-funded. There are a lot of opportunities to do other things in the school other than teaching. Furthermore, there are other ways to make money such as coaching, summer school, clubs, and supervisions.

    Cons

A lot of pressure is felt at this school but that can be understandable. Also, communication can be difficult in such a big school, so most people resort to e-mail.

    Advice to Management

Overall, good job! Everyone works hard at the school and this includes the students and parents.

  8. "Stevenson High School is a premeir public school in the Northwest suburbs or Illinois"

I worked at Stevenson High School as an intern

    Pros

The facilities are great and top of the line. The employees on staff are good people and easy to get along with. The students are good kids who mean well.

    Cons

A little bit controlling but definitely a premeir school.

    Advice to Management

Try not to be as controlling.
