I have been working at Stevenson University full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Great President, lots of holidays off, nice holiday party, 4 day work week in July

      Cons

No room for growth, no raise, salary is a joke, very tight budget, off campus professional development is only offered to upper leadership, complacent upper leadership who are threatened by younger staff who are more educated. Upper leadership does not share knowledge for job security reasons

      Advice to Management

retire or learn how to delegate responsibilities

I worked at Stevenson University part-time

      Pros

Fun, energetic environment with really nice people. Patient, supportive colleagues.

      Cons

Needed to split the nursing from the rest of the majors and have a separate admissions staff to work their applications.

I worked at Stevenson University full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Laid-back atmosphere, willingness to be current with marketing practices

      Cons

Pretty horrible office environment, dirty and insufficient employee break room/facilities. Marketing is all over the place with no real direction. Emphasis placed on wrong aspects of the school, not sure of the student or parent they’re trying to appeal to... or maybe I do and want to ignore it because it depresses me. When the school changed from VJC all the history was erased and now SU doesn’t know who it is. What...

      Advice to Management

Slim down staff to people that get it and care. Over saturation of staff in some areas and total lack of staff in others. Decide who you market to and don’t just bend at the whim of a board member’s nod.

      Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Stevenson University part-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

Good pay for adjuncts compared to other colleges and universities, pleasant campus and students

      Cons

Sex, age and racial discrimination, No administrative support for faculty-even blatant lies regarding promotion and job security; parking can be an issue, poorly maintained facilities depending on the department, academics take a back seat to athletics and “perks” like new building and dining facilities, Stevenson maintains the appearance of a progressive institution rather actually being one. Depending on your sex,...

      Advice to Management

Pay attention to substance over appearance, treat employees fairly. Academics really ARE as important as athletics and dining facilities.

I worked at Stevenson University full-time

      Pros

Good Teaching Faculty who care about the students

      Cons

Academic Leadership is Bankrupt. Totally top down. When SU stopped growing a few years ago, the environment turned very negative. Totally focused on Facilities and Sports

      Advice to Management

Clean house and find true leaders who value faculty.
