I worked at Stevenson University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was able to make my schedule exactly how I wanted it. There are measures in place to ensure that students who neglect their appointments are dealt with.

    Cons

You don't get paid if a student cancels his/her tutoring appointment. They seem to cycle new management in constantly because they've been so bad.

    Advice to Management

Find management that will relate well to the students. Mandatory meetings are fine as long as legitimate topics are discussed; otherwise, we feel that our time is wasted.

    Cons

Some people want you to do their work for them. Dealing with difficult people sometimes.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I worked at Stevenson University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Beautiful campus, competitive pay.

    Cons

I was teaching as an adjunct and was given no warning that I was not scheduled any courses for the upcoming semester until I tried to upload my syllabus.

    Advice to Management

I'm sure it varies by department, but I was counting on that job to pay my rent. I would have been courteous, to say the least to alert your adjuncts as to whether or not they are teaching more than a few weeks before classes start.

I worked at Stevenson University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and a Wellness Program that includes fitness, healthy food demonstrations, and free flu shots.

    Cons

Benefits do not include tuition remission for graduate degrees. This benefit is only available to certain people. Most executive level employees are unfriendly and look down upon employees. Many times, they don't even speak. Used to have a community feel but has changed tremendously. Too top heavy!

    Advice to Management

Management training for executive level employees. Encourage personal growth and development to all employees.

I worked at Stevenson University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stevenson is a great company to work for.

    Cons

Stevenson should provide a review for all student employees about how the performance of their supervisors is. Also, there should be mandatory random urine analysis tests conducted for student employees as well. Saw many students either under the influence or high on the job.

    Advice to Management

Same as listed above in "cons."

    Pros

    Interested/interesting co-workers, beautiful campus, dedicated students/alumni

    Cons

Small-school atmosphere is changing rapidly; expansion is a pro for employees, but negative for current students who came because of the small environment

    Advice to Management

Focus more on the students and the SU community, less effort on endless expansion
