    Pros

Good place to work if you like a slow and static atmosphere without alot of deadline pressures. Everything moves at a snail's pace. In IT they have semi-annual product release cycles. Not for my taste but some people may like this type of environment. They have a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off. But instead of working 9 hours on the other days, most people work the standard 8 hours. Also the Friday that people do show up for, most people leave early and nothign gets done.

    Cons

Terrible upper management. They have no idea what they're doing with regards to IT. The management structure is bloated with little direction. Most of management I've dealt with are unqualified and gets in your way most of the time. There is a very high number of project manager, product managers, BA, dev managers for the number of developers. With the non-technical people driving most of the technical decisions. Projects that should take 4 weeks to do usually last 6 months or more. Not much gets done.

    Advice to Management

You have some very useless people in management. Start getting rid of some of them.

    Pros

It is easy to get a position. The only reason I took the job is I needed experience.

    Cons

Bad politics, bad managment, bad pay. Ask anyone who works there if they work at corporate office and they will let you know it is not the place to be. Everyone was looking for a way out.

    Advice to Management

    Pay and train employees better.

    Pros

Been in Tucson for 50 years. They will hire almost anyone who has been laid off at another company that is title industry related. Open to hearing suggestions but won't take any of them. Free meals when the Account Manager takes an escrow officer and a real estate agent to lunch.

    Cons

Salary in Tucson is $36,000 compared to Denver for the same position is $72,000. Other account managers take from the company by convincing escrow officers to give them credit for sales to give them more commission to what is 'not' due to them. No training whatsoever. Office is dirty and chairs/desks are uncomfortable and not ergomic causing people to be out of work. No company database to know who is doing business with whom. Seven account managers arguing over sales and lenders and Realtors. Probably the worst working experience in my career.

    Advice to Management

Hire a human resource manager. Company needs to be aware and monitor workplace violence in terms of employees yelling at one another and harassing each other. Company needs to put together a database. Get rid of current sales manager and find someone who can manage and motivate.

    Pros

Pay was ok for the work that needed to be completed.

    Cons

Management easily influenced by a fast talker, OT is expected not and option. There a lot of temps at Stewart. They will rush you to complete a project then dump you.

    Advice to Management

Communicate Effectively, Be truthful in your actions with employees. Don't be so easily influenced by a fast talker. Provide honest feedback not just blowing smoke.

I worked at Stewart Title full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work was interesting and provided some great learning experience with people in other departments.

    Cons

Generally they use temps to fill positions and then lay off full time employees. Company is a revolving door. Upper management uses a manage by fear method to intimidate the staff to get the work done. Not much mentoring or coaching involved in the process. Also noticed there is some nepotism in the upper management team which has began to trickle down to the floor staff as well.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate the values of the company and then follow through with implementing them.

    Pros

none. We were not given the opportunity to complete what we were brought in to do

    Cons

We were brought in to start a new National Division in May, just as business was being to take off they dismantled the department. Upper management of the Denver Colorado branch was very unorganized

I have been working at Stewart Title full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They have really honed the practice of telling you what you want to hear.

    Cons

The family still runs this publically traded company and does not care that they are responsible to the shareholders. They have no problem lying or cheating. They drive share price by keeping compensation low, cutting headcount in the fourth quarter of every year and lying to the board and to the shareholders. They have decided that it is critical to blend both business with their religious convictions. I am an atheist and don't want to hear this in the workplace. They are sued constantly by both their customers as well as their employees. They need to be investigated from the board to the management team and heads need to role. The family remains members of the board of directors and need to be held accountable for their actions-SEC to the EEOC.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company to someone who can run it like a business or with any luck you will all go bankrupt and have to sell it to your competition who is taking market share on a regular basis.

I have been working at Stewart Title full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is not ONE pro to working in this place.

    Cons

The utmost disrespect for hard working employees, Their HR employees DO nothing to help those that are discriminated against. There is constant harassment if you are NOT a brown noser or a close friend. HOW this site in Norfolk VA can even stay open is beyond words. How they can get away with treating employee as horrible as they do should be against the law. This company should be ashamed of what they allow to go on from management along with employees is criminal.

    Advice to Management

I have none. I have advice for the CEO, revamp the entire Norfolk site!! Fire all the management and restaff with employee's with IQ's above 20.
