I worked at Stiefel Laboratories full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance, benefits, and salary, excellent experience and room for growth, mentoring available, and understanding to parents

    Cons

Parking is a bit tough, location is great, and the salaries are comparable to market value and to large corporations

    Advice to Management

Management is very well organized and it is a great company to work for, the only advice is to continue the excellent job in mentoring and leadersip

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Stiefel Laboratories full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stiefel was a great place to work until GSK came along. Paid well. Good bonuses and options. Benefits were top notch

    Cons

The GSK philosophy is one that keeps its employees on edge about the future. Every year there were additional layoffs. Major losses of key personnel without consideration to their individual value to the business.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that employees are not needed before separation process and ensure the preliminary separation package is consistent with what the individual will receive once they get the final package. Truly bait and switch technique.

I worked at Stiefel Laboratories full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some good people, decent pay, has potential if leadership improves. Nice building with onsite dining. Ample parking. Good location. Good benefits in some areas.

    Cons

Poor leadership, from the top down. Continual restructure that disrupted continuity and employee morale. Unethical business practices. Very bureaucratic, way too many layers just to get simple things done.

    Advice to Management

Apply good morals and objectivity, come down from the ivory tower to see what employees really need to do their job.

I worked at Stiefel Laboratories (More than a year)

    Pros

Company has great benefits and family values. There are career opportunities if you desire to move into a management position

    Cons

The work/life balance for employees could receive a tune-up due to more emphasis on immediate delivery for some initiatives

    Advice to Management

    Really there is none

I worked at Stiefel Laboratories (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Wonderful, wonderful co-workers. Variety in daily work. Opportunity to expand job skills / role interests. Excellent management. I began with Stiefel Labs and we joined GSK in 2010. This is the reason I titled my review as I did.

    Cons

Restructure. At times remote role is a little too removed. Cannot think of anything more in terms areas I did not like. I gave 3 stars for the restructure aspect. All other aspects 5-star.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be transparent and dedicated to the welfare of employees. Great leadership and good communication is what made working for GSK a wonderful experience and one I will always remember fondly.

I worked at Stiefel Laboratories full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people. Good Salary. The products used to be good. If you were in the West Region, the regional manager was absolutely the best.

    Cons

There is a serious lack of new innovative products to sell. The new compensation plan, which removed sales as a bonus measure, is terrible. There is a complete lack of transparency in how the new bonus plan is calculated. This gives reps no incentive to sell.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of all the terrible GSK managers.

I worked at Stiefel Laboratories full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    benefits and pays are good

    Cons

terrible culture especially under GSK, poor planning and clueless leadership

    Advice to Management

Stiefel is no longer a viable business option

    Pros

Great people and opportunities with excellent benefits and compensation. Growing rapidly in a very hectic but rewarding environment. Well respected with their customers.

    Cons

Recently acquired by Glaxo Smith Kline and falling under their rules and regulations. No clear direction since acquisition. Lack of direction in the sales area by management. Treats people as commodities with little respect.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees especially in the sales area better. Stop using the word transparent when you really do not mean it.
