    I worked at Stolt-Nielsen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, free meals a nice building.

    Cons

Company is poorly managed; maybe due to the lack of training for middle management (remember you are managing people as well) and credentials mostly all middle management doesn't have a Bachelor degree (except I think two of them).
Poor work culture: They usually promote the ones who who are in a circle related to the closest them or those who celebrate the jokes of the manager. Totally a hostile environment in regard to harassment and inappropriate behavior from upper and middle management. HHRR is aware of this situations and they do nothing. The place is basically a pyramid there's no room for growing; people would have to retire, die, get fired, or leave they have a huge turnover in operations I wonder why, so you can advance; Also and not less lots of secret couples as well. I don't know whats going on in that place, but it seems a normal practice.

    Advice to Management

To Upper management get rid of the uneducated and train their people. treat better your employees

    I worked at Stolt-Nielsen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of overtime but it comes with a cost. Job is hard on your body and very hard mentally due to management constantly putting you in fear for your job daily!

    Cons

Where do I start? Let me just say there are to many things negative to say but in a nut shell they are down right terrible yo there operators! I couldn't stand the way they would talk to us in our meetings or on a daily occurrence. The overtime was the only reason I stayed 8 years and I finally found another job and then you finally realize how bad they are until you see the way other companies treat you!

    Advice to Management

Quit or retire and let professionals come in and run that place!

I have been working at Stolt-Nielsen (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of us look out for one another. The pay is not to bad but could be better.

    Cons

Management talks safety but when something has to be done you better get it done. The management at this place is the worst i have ever seen from employees being insulted and called" stupid" , cursed at to rewarding employees for taking unnecessary risk like gauging in a thunder storm this place is headed for a catastrophe. Corporate Human resources is a joke!

    Advice to Management

every one in upper management, Starting at the very top of the Houston Terminal are incompetent and egotistical. There Positions should be reevaluated.

I worked at Stolt-Nielsen (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits including, in house childcare, free lunch in company cafeteria, 401K, and health insurance as well as a pleasant work environment.

    Cons

Though it is possible to advance in the company in this department, their loyalty to those employees that have more time with the company makes this process longer than some are willing to wait.

    Pros

Free lunch, in house day care. Flexible hours. Benefits package very reasonably priced.

    Cons

too much favoritism. Employees who have years with the company have a lot of pull, if they don't like you , management will fire you. I had a wonderful review on my performance, and one month later I was terminated. It doesn't matter the experience nor the degree. Drinking alcohol or beer is allowed during working hours!

    Advice to Management

investigate before firing employees. A written warning of one's performances would be helpful

    I worked at Stolt-Nielsen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There's not much except for good health benefits and 401k. They did away with pension because they could care less about the employee.

    Cons

Entire terminal needs to be updated. Employee parking lot looks like the moon with all the potholes. They DO NOT care about the employees. Currently want to hair test everyone because they think it will make the company better (another reason to fire employees so they can waste more money). Their water treatment plant and entire terminal operates like back in the 1970s and is in terrible condition. You WILL be exposed to dangerous chemicals due to management's lack of concern for the employees wellbeing (valves leak by, pipelines are old, they still pig lines and are in a constant rush to finish chemical moves, etc. etc.). Would never recommend this place to any friends or family.

    Advice to Management

Constantly bullying employees around. The threat of being fired is always there. Honestly the most shady group of people I've ever worked for. I hope management gets to endure the same punishment they put employees through. Poor excuse for management.
