I worked at Stone Belt full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Stone Belt does a fantastic job caring for its consumers -- the individuals that you'll work with are spectacular and there are many, many dedicated employees. It's a terrific organization, and the clinical team is second to none.

    Cons

Just like any not-for-profit, there are budget constraints, and you'll work with amazing folks and people who are there for a paycheck. But compared to most residential providers, Stone Belt has their act together.

I worked at Stone Belt full-time

    Pros

Every day I find myself thinking of someone I used to work with. They were all co-people to me.

    Cons

Can be overwhelming in the moment on a certain day. But hey, at least it's not every day.

I have been working at Stone Belt full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working with clients was really good. You can truly bond with individuals and make a difference. You get to do a lot and you get a lot of freedom. You need to be self-motivated and wear a lot of hats.

    Cons

There can be frustrating and difficult clients. Not enough training for the duties of a job coach. Lots of emphasis on maximizing billing, which means some useful activities don't happen because they aren't billable. Some extremely weird coworkers who are immune to any repercussions for irritating, inappropriate behavior.

I have been working at Stone Belt full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Stone Belt is a company that lives its mission to prepare, empower and support individuals with disabilities to fully participate in the life of their community. I come to work knowing that I can contribute to something positive everyday. There is room for upward mobility in this company. Most of the top level staff started as Direct Support Professionals and moved up to their current positions. Those who are interested in upward mobility will have opportunities to do so if they are willing to work hard and learn new skills.

    Cons

Pay. Staffing issues that plague the field of disability services in general. However, I feel like Stone Belt is doing all it can through advocacy and retention efforts to make this better.
