I worked at Stonehill & Taylor Architects full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent location. Wish I could give no stars.

    Cons

One of the worse places I have ever worked at. Poor management. Lists of favoritism and finger pointing. Upper management has no clue at all.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to manage properly. They has no idea how to effectively manage. The healthcare studio is the worst.

I worked at Stonehill & Taylor Architects

    Pros

Firm has a reputation and really is not a long term career place to work. Is more like a stepping stone to the next. More geared towards females in the ID department. So a big of favoritism goes along way.

    Cons

Some senior staff are not formally trained. Therefore be prepared to do all the work, while they do nothing. Questionable team work. Inexperienced favored over experienced. Favoritism goes along way if you’re female, allies are also important especially if you are female. There is an undercurrent of discrimination towards very experienced people, from those who aren’t. Expect to be suppressed if you don’t fit the mold,...

I have been working at Stonehill & Taylor Architects full-time

        Pros

S&T is a growing firm, there are many opportunities for young and senior level architects and interior designers. The environment at S&T is friendly, the space is comfortable and have recently expanded into a newly finished office space. The opportunities are challenging and exciting; compensation is generous. The principals are approachable and knowledgeable.

        Cons

No complaints except for we probably need more staff.

        Advice to Management

        Keep doing what your doing

I worked at Stonehill & Taylor Architects full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

I liked the casual fun atmosphere, and most of the projects were interesting & challenging to work on. Many projects were published. The staff are friendly and the office is large by NYC standards, and includes a pool table. There are office parties/ gatherings each month. Generally, they pay slightly higher than average. Overall, the office has good energy.

        Cons

The firm has grown extremely fast, and management is less than adequate. Unfortunately, they are too busy to address the issue thoroughly. Many project managers have to poach staff constantly, yet certain managers have enormous teams. There is A LOT of favoritism by management, and a lot of secretive meetings. Proposals and business development are not mentored to/shared with senior staff. Project credit is not shared...

        Advice to Management

S&T really requires an additional layer of management, and a design director that is hands-on and in-office daily, who works with architects, too. Architects need to be able to design more, designers need to learn to draw. Regular staffing meetings are needed. More transparency in office business would also benefit in mentoring staff, as well as creating a less-secretive and exclusive office culture. There is one partner...
