I have been working at Stonhard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stonhard is a small company here in Fort Wane, IN; but also a part of a larger conglomerate RPG. So advantages of working for a small company with benefits of a larger company. The employees are all great to work with.

    Cons

As with any company, you have your peak and down times. The peak times keep us very busy (which I happen to like), down times are a must; that's when we usually get caught up on things we don't have time for.

    Advice to Management

Need to see management more, in an active role with the employees.

    Pros

Tough question, unfortunately I am drawing a blank; it's a job, that's a pro. You're busy every minute of every day, if you like not having time to have personal thoughts or opinions then this place will be great for you.

    Cons

You have zero value, which you learn quickly. You have no voice, you get treated poorly, no room for growth, over worked and under appreciated.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Happy employees, better results.

I worked at Stonhard (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Descent products with ease of on-site production. Strong marketing and sample materials. No concern with vacation costs because taking them are frowned upon. Thats about it.

    Cons

Highest pressured sales company in the building materials arena. Unrealistic expectations with goals and tactics to achieve sales numbers. Too many layers of management with mid-level sales managers primary functions of micro-managing, report creating and brow-beating fear mongering tactics to promote numbers volume. Self defeating in construction based sales.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate mid-level management, trust in sales force to be responsible professionals to perform their job.

I have been working at Stonhard full-time

    Pros

Decent Benefits. Flexibility for parents depending on your supervisor. Business is stable. Pension if you can last.

    Cons

Sales administration is undervalued and underpaid. It's all women, so no surprise there. High stress. Moderate turnover. At the beck and call of entitled Territory Managers. Limited room for growth. Supervisors are young and not going anywhere. You earn 10 vacation days a year for your first 5 years. No sick days. Whether or not you are docked for a sick day is dependent upon your supervisor.

    Advice to Management

Pay the sales administration team a fair wage. If you want college educated, talented people you need to pay them accordingly. It isn't 2008 anymore.

    Pros

Great for its ease in applying its material and even better when working with a great crew

    Cons

Poor for its manipulating and scheming person holding wages over your head discriminating and keeping you from making what the job may pay

    Advice to Management

Every worker should get an exact notice for what stonhard pays its laborers. Not one race get 12/hourly 5 days a week and another 15/16 hour

I worked at Stonhard full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work is challenging, and gets you outside often. A lot of travel, mostly local, but you get to see many people in all walks of the industry.

    Cons

For my division, only one installer, and he is set up for commercial only. Possible collusion, limited resources, management makes promises that are not remotely followed through on.

    Advice to Management

Absorb this division and let Maple Shade handle it.

    Pros

Make your own schedule and have autonomy.

    Cons

All of the load is on the Territory Manager. Even when corporate team screws something up, it falls back on the Territory Manager. CRM system is a joke and management ignores the employees suggestions on how to improve and streamline this and other processes

    Advice to Management

Value your employee's, particularly your sales force. They are the ones paying your salaries and bonuses.

    Pros

Flexible with personal time, lots of holiday and vacation time, pension

    Cons

Management will try to stop you from advancing to another dept if you work as a sales admin, lack of ability to resolve employee issues, low rate of pay for an extremely stressful job.

    Advice to Management

Resolve issues immediately, do not participate in favortism, don't sweep emplotee concerns under the rug. Realise when your employees that go above and beyond are stressed and help them.
