      Pros

Good benefits, lots of days off. Plenty of sick time and days to use.

      Cons

Stuck in the same role for too long , limited chance at upward movement or pay increases. Most employees leave for Northwell.

      Unfortunately understaffed.

      Pros

I love being a CNA. I lived in town. Good benefits, Nyship to be exact. Union state job Csea. Fortunate to leave with a 10 year pension. Great co-workers. I enjoyed working side by side with nurse’s getting through the shift.

      Cons

Understaffed, poor management and nurse’s don’t help with patient care (even if it’s their assigned patient). Weekends I ended up with 15 patients on a 30 bed floor for several years nothing changed. Vitals x2, accu-checks x2, I&O’s and of course call bells which nurse’s don’t answer. Shift 3-11pm. Also nurse’s don’t help even if theres only one CNA on the floor. Imagine this was second best staffed shift. Nights was always 1 cna on the floor. Nurse overall attitude is not my patient not my problem. Everyone for themselves.

      Pros

They say good benefits but you never get to use the benefits unless your old and have health problems. Employees pay for a thousand things and never get anything back. Pay Union and the union never help when you have a problem.

      Cons

The pay is so low. The annual rate is good but when you see your check it's a misery. Working for the state is really not the best job in the world. As a nursing assistant I was being abuse. 25 patients and no nurses ever help. Management does whatever they want since they have a union and can't get fired like that. My experience as an employee and as a patient was HORRIBLE. Will never recomend this place to anybody. Students with no experience are doing the work a doctor should do while the doctor just relax. Same with nurses the only difference is that nurses have nursing assistant to do everything for them.
