    Pros

offer a variety of shifts, union, benefits for part time and full time employees, room for advancement

    Cons

unfair raises for cost of living. the employees that have earned a higher rate for years of service should still get the cost of living raise or the raise difference what the new employees start at.

    Advice to Management

learn your employees and your customers . say "Thank you "(never hear) saying hello is an effort

    Pros

Flexible hours, multiple positions, union oriented. Great first job, very easy to pick up, and many people willing to help you succeed

    Cons

Repetitive work, but not strenuous. Managers were changed constantly so it was difficult to form a bond, some managers would have different rules than others.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

Management can be tough to deal with, must work Saturdays, no support from higher management, not always given materials to get job done

    Advice to Management

Don't treat long term employees poorly

    Pros

    Nice co-workers, flexible schedule.

    Cons

Pay. They pay you peanuts. Literally peanuts. Full timers barely make more. Management thinks you are developmentally disabled and speak to you in a demeaning manner.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting hours. Stop being cruel and petty. Pay workers more.

I have been working at Stop & Shop part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Most of the customers and colleagues who are easy to get along with; dental and vision benefits for part-timers

    Cons

The other customers and colleagues who are not easy to get along with; no room for growth; they expect hard work for very little, limited pay; no full-time so they can avoid giving health insurance; politics and racism run rampant, as does favoritism; very high stress level with low pay and a lot of verbal abuse you have to take if you want to keep your job; no kind of training programs to encourage promotions

    Advice to Management

Be more about your employees and not only about the walking wallets called Customers and you might inspire people to be better motivated to be the Yes Robots you expect them to be. Also, promote, promote, promote.

I have been working at Stop & Shop part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to meet a variety of people and co-workers are usually decent people because you all bond over hating management.

    Cons

The management is very inconsistent. You will be doing one job, they will tell you to do something for them, and then they'll yell at you because the first thing you were doing isn't done.

    Advice to Management

For the most part, people know how to do their jobs. If something hasn't been done yet, there is usually an easy explanation as to why. Instead of saying they need to do something, ask them if they are currently in the process of doing something and when they are done with that then do what you need them to do.

I worked at Stop & Shop full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours...really good people to work with(esp in Gloucester ma).... training..... a good union.... pretty good pay ... usually Sunday hours are available.... can work in different departments at times

    Cons

Sometimes you get a store or asst manager that likes to micro manage..... if your lazy don't apply because work load is a lot with limited hours....

    Advice to Management

Always say good morning to your staff (like Gloucester ma did).... makes workers think you care what's going on in the building.... not just hiding in office

    Pros

I honestly can't think of any.

    Cons

where do I start... there was at least 15 managers at the one I worked at, everyone running around not doing anything and for the few months I was there I was getting harassed like crazy, I couldn't say anything because I was afraid to lose my job but then I finally got tired of it and left.

    Advice to Management

pick better managers and raise pay.
