I have been working at StorageCraft full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has good work life balance, at least in my department. The work is very interesting, covering many different types of software development.

    Cons

Since TA Associates took over there have been multiple rounds of layoffs. We're periodically told we missed revenue targets, but I don't think the targets have been realistic. The acquisitions haven't paid off as quickly as management expected, which is mostly because they didn't do enough due diligence.

I worked at StorageCraft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent and benefits are ok.

    Cons

The company is focused on revenue numbers and revenue numbers alone. Employees only matter to the extent that they can bring in revenue. The culture has really suffered since the company was acquired beginning of 2016, which is unfortunate because it used to be great.

    Advice to Management

Value your people. Recreate a culture that was once great.

I have been working at StorageCraft full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was, bar none, the best employer on the Silicon Slopes.

    It's still pretty good.

    Cons

Sometimes recently I feel that I am being micro-managed. I'm too old for that. Go play your games elsewhere.

We used to have the best healthcare I could imagine (Select Health). Now it's Cigna, and Cigna seems to drop our calls (to India?) before they might incur any cost.

    Advice to Management

"Trust is given"? Then back off and trust me. Or fire me. Wipe the slate clean and start with your pals, if that is what you really want. I don't actually care all that deeply, because I am being poached like you cannot believe. I am (and we are) more flexible than you are.

Management promises that growth benefits us all, but growth is not as transparent as you might imagine. Trickle-down didn't work for Reagan either. Other commenters have pointed out the bad acquisitions. There was no serious due-diligence done. We are supposed to digest this for you? BURP.

    Pros

The company is still under 300 people, so steering products and discussing changes isn't difficult.

The company also greatly matches a family/work lifestyle, meaning if you have kids/family, it's easy to adapt and work around.

    Cons

The "company culture" of StorageCraft could use improvement. There's an environment-of-silence where middle-management in certain groups (i.e. Support, Engineering, Marketing, etc) is quiet about the concerns they have in regards to communicating them to upper-management.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication and create a focus company direction/goal instead of just stating "growing profits" before a certain date.

I have been working at StorageCraft full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, teams work well together, departments are starting to work with each other more.

    Cons

Layoffs killed morale. Product release teams are more concerned with getting more products out the door rather than getting good products out the door. Not much room to grow in each department due to the small size of the company.

I have been working at StorageCraft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Competitive Pay
    Excellent Benefits
Great Opportunities for those who are willing to be accountable for their work and actions
    Great Location and Facilities
    Great Tech

    Cons

There are still some employees within the company who got used to the old regime, where no one was accountable. Some of them view the new standards of accountability as 'management by fear'. This vocal minority, who are afraid of accountability, tend to have a 'wet blanket' effect on parts of the company.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hold people accountable and continue to change the company culture to one of accountability, responsibility and respect. It's working well so far and the vast majority of us are behind you.

I worked at StorageCraft full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

StorageCraft Backup and Disaster recovery software is some of the best in the industry. Friendly office culture supports sharing of knowledge, and fast career development, for some.

    Cons

TA Associates recently bought StorageCraft, and installed their own CEO. New CEO, Matt Medeiros, determined that some restructuring is needed in order to help StorageCraft adapt more quickly. Many Good employees were laid off with no notice.

    Advice to Management

Next time corporate restructuring is needed, start by looking internally for candidates for the new positions that are being created, then continue by eliminating the positions that these candidates vacate. Then and only then lay off under-performing employees, and employees that are not contributing enough to the team. Good workplaces can be very fragile, and laying off talented and hardworking employees tends to lead to negative consequences for everyone.
