    Pros

    Good hours
Great pay if you're willing to work hard

    Cons

    Lack of health care option
Many homeowners unfamiliar/uncomfortable with process initially.

    Advice to Management

Advertising before entering new neighborhood is a must. More than just throw-away door hangers

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Storm Guard Restoration full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None that I can think of but to some people it may be some pros

    Cons

Out dated sales process, pay scale is not clear, always trying to take money out of your check, everyone doesn't want a free roof contrary to what you are trained to believe, no safety training

    Advice to Management

Don't micro manage your team, needs to be a better advertising system in place. Don't be two faced towards your employees, one storm event doesn't fit everyone that you are trying to sell too, long hours, no set schedule, training needs to be better because what is offered is not good enough. Need to set clear guidelines besides just go out and sell roofs. The metrics don't need to be fed from the top down. Remember the bottom line is the only thing that matters not what you all think is required from the top down

I worked at Storm Guard Restoration full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Newer company that leases its name to franchisees. Has its HQ in TX.
They offer base salary+commission+bonuses+over-rides to its employees(managers & associates) where other companies in this line of work is strictly commission. Its 35k-42k base for managers & 28k-32k base for sales associates depending which part of country you live.
*They give monthly cell phone reimbursement, company vehicle to take home, gift & gas cards, free uniform + work shoes, trips, unlimited cap on commissions, learning an exterior construction trades, free CRM software to track appts/leads, steady line of work, office overhead,6 paid holiday, no work nights or Sundays, free home inspections for property owners.

    Cons

You have to be a good mix of blue collar & a salesman. Like all sales jobs including cars, real estate, insurance, energy, etc... Its takes great deal of patience to get the pipeline flowing. Its takes about a month to get the ball rolling.

The sales process can take long and commissions are only earned after the work is complete. The process includes a free home inspection, doing a file complain, then meeting the insurance adjuster to see if he/she agrees or disagrees with your analysis, then waiting for it to get approve, ordering supplies/labor, then collecting check once job is complete.

Commissions are based on your total after subtracting labor, supplies, & other small fees.

    Advice to Management

The company is very generous. There are people out there doing it the hard way and without any support but Storm-Guard is not like that. But the company should put more effort in helping the franchisees with recruiting and leads.

There is opportunity to make lots of money. You need lots of people on your team and never rest, never lay off the gas pedal when it comes to prospecting leads.

I worked at Storm Guard Restoration part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working for Storm Guard. I worked in a franchise location in South Charlotte. The owner, Jim Howell, was definitely one of the best bosses I've ever had. He gives employees all of the support and tools they need to be successful. Customers always appreciated the work we did, and it was very satisfying to be part of such a good company.

    Cons

The job is obviously not for everyone, but the people that stick with it can really succeed.

    Advice to Management

Continue to support employees as much as possible. It is a hard job, and a little extra motivation can go a long way.

I worked at Storm Guard Restoration full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some structure and sales material provided by franchisees
    Flexible hours

    Cons

Door to door marketing to homeowners
A lot of driving personal vehicle without reimbursement
Lower profit margins than competition = smaller commissions on sales

    Advice to Management

Have a well thought out strategy for franchise owners and help them implement it. We were really just running around with very little plan trying to make something happen. Pay is set by franchise owners for the sales staff, but with the royalty payments cutting into the profits, it doesn't make sense for a good sales person to stay on with this company when they can make bigger commissions elsewhere.
