Stereotypical Good (and somewhat boring) Corporate Job

    Pros

-Very smart coworkers -You'll be home on time very day -Pay is good (nothing more, nothing less) -Low stress -People are nice -I had an excellent manager

    Cons

-Very slow paced, even by corporate standards. Sometimes it'll take two quarters to get anything approved since there are so many stakeholders on everything. -Lack of innovation, "we've just always done it that way" seems to be an acceptable answer -Very siloed, different departments and teams just don't talk to each other. -Office is absolutely silent, feels like people are there to clock in and clock out. -Upper management is very conservative and slow to adapt

    Pros

My time with SEI has allowed me to understand both higher education and corporate strategies. I have networked with amazing people that care about their work

    Cons

Diversity continues to be a struggle. There have been big strides but keeping women, and women of color especially seems to be a challenge. Needs to be more opportunities to be promoted

    Nice place to work

    Pros

Sense of community within your department, learning opportunities, supportive leadership, flexibility/unlimited flex time off, a strong mission, nice variety of brands and projects to work with, casual attire (dress for your day), diverse and inclusive culture, WFH allowed indefinitely since the pandemic, but offices to be opened as optional workspace later on.

    Cons

Disagreements on the process between groups who work closely together, low merit raises, no bonuses, IT issues pop up with work laptop, email, and software licensing

    Pros

-I had the support that I needed from leadership to contribute my talent to key organizational initiatives. -I received feedback on a regular basis. -The organization has a very generous tuition assistance program.

    Cons

-The organization needs to consider bringing in consultants to assess whether they have appropriate measures in place to evaluate whether they have the right talent in the right jobs doing the right work at the right time and for the right compensation for what talent brings to the table. -The organization needs to evaluate if they have credentialled/certified recruiters that are market savvy. There are a lot of well experienced and educated talent and given the changes within the 21st century workforce, including demographic and social changes, recruitment will need to know much more than they did in the past to ensure that they are hiring the best talent and doing so fairly and recruiting from a myriad of diverse talent pools.
