I worked at Stream Global Services full-time

    Pros

-Low barrier to entry as far as being hired.
    -Work stays at work
-Rarely required to come in last minute or do overtime if not desired
-Plenty of opportunity for overtime if desired
-Interesting people of all walks of life end up working here, easy to make friends as you can always bond over difficult calls.
-There were regular opportunities to move around to different business units
-There were decent health and 401k benefits, easy to request and take time off.

    Cons

-The nature of the job can be very abrasive, and there was little we could do outside of providing real time troubleshooting steps and trying to resolve billing issues.
-Frequent turnover and mandatory changes to scheduled hours
-Performance was measured by customer satisfaction surveys, where the pattern was random and/or sparse.
-Hard to retain sense of camaraderie as nearly entire team will change change over time.
-Position was regarded as a means to an end, not regarded as a career but a temporary job.
-Employees would often leave once they started getting comfortable in the position.
-Everything was PCI compliant, preventing any out-going communication.

    Advice to Management

-PCI compliance really constricted communication with the customer, especially for a technical support position. It makes more sense (in my opinion) if there were a separate PCI compliant group (like our group in the US) for billing and payment issues.

Lack of effective communication was a frequent cause of a customer's frustration. Plenty of issues could not be resolved real time, forcing them to call back multiple times and reducing the ability for us to truly take ownership of an issue.

-Simpler customer satisfaction surveys, such as a Net Promoter Score with one scale and verbatim.

Often encountered times where customer provided a positive verbatim but entered a negative review, but there was no way to contest the review or try to improve it (from our group at least) after the fact.

I worked at Stream Global Services as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy to be hired. If you don't get sick and are always on time its for you. Salary is OK. Job was fun.

    Cons

Little effective communication between managers and employees. No emails addresses available. No team meetings. And not a lot of respect.

    Advice to Management

Make sure to have team leads do weekly meetings. Assign and share email addresses, and change point system. Apparently you are not allowed to be sick.

I worked at Stream Global Services full-time

    Pros

I was trained and worked as Technical Support on a fairly big contract for a complicated piece of software. I had a full six weeks of paid training, with regular tests to weed out the ones who were at the very bottom of the barrel. I left two weeks after starting my actual work when I realized it really wasn't for me, with no consequences. There are some pretty cool people who work there.

    Cons

Whatever you do for training, the work blows. Customers are angry and dismissive. And the company is set up in such a way that there is zero room for individuality. The primary metric by which you are judged is how many 9-10 star reviews you get over how long your calls are. The leaders and direct managers are just as bound by policy as the grunts, and the soul-suckiness of it all was too much for me.

    Advice to Management

Afford your team leaders and managers some level of discretion and control, please.

    Pros

Free training on Dell products, Decent benefits package

    Cons

Low pay. they only want you to be on the phone for under 25 minutes, this is now time in many cases to properly troubleshoot a problem

    Advice to Management

Treat people better, the only way a team lead even knows your name is if you are having a hard time
