I worked at Stream Global Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked there for about 2 1/2 years and got to work with a diverse group of people. It was a setting where internal promotion and career development where taken seriously and many people got a second chance or first at leveraging themselves professionally. I was given opportunities to take on new and increased responsibilities which can be rare in outsourcing and call center environments.

    Cons

It was an outsourcing call center environment and like is common to those settings and jobs there could be a fair amount of pressure given the pay.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Stream Global Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with was really the main thing that kept me working here. Before our site was bought out by Convergys I worked as a fraud prevention agent and the stress of losing my job was a constant reminder. I got better at my job and like most call centers, it was revolving door with people quiting or just not showing up. I'm lucky they hired such great people I really had a family of friends when I got to work.

    Cons

If you aren't a fast learner in a call center with a tough job it can be a bit overwhelming

I worked at Stream Global Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was part of a small team, and I got to work a lot on the knowledge base. The incoming work stayed steady, but not overwhelming.

    Cons

The company was managed in a less-than-ideal manner, and approved more bandaid fixes than funamental improvements.

    Advice to Management

The lower-level managers are personable and hard-working! let them do what they need to help their teams succeed!

I worked at Stream Global Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My role was odd, supporting both top execs and mid-level call center folks. The power and autonomy of the role were great, and the things I learned from some execs and from an international collection of IT experts were invaluable. I also had a small taste of working in Information Security, which was fascinating.

    Cons

Like many companies we were stretched thin. The people were reasonable about not calling me on nickel and dime concerns, but when anything was down (weekly) I'd get calls anytime. For execs I was on call 24x7x365 for more than a year. Also I suspect many jobs have been and will be moving away from Minnesota since the buyout.

    Advice to Management

Rotate on-call times and always hire at least two IT guys per group to ensure real time off. Eventually I was able to trade with my more experienced coworker, but it was a very tiring first year. Also be sure to spend enough time and cash up front on infrastructure before filling a 300-seat building, to avoid frequent down-times. Our WAN - upon which everything depended - was a nightmare for the first few months in Eagan, and took a year to become reliable. Oof.
