This was a truly innovative company who changed the waxing industry and gave inspiration to alot of people. Its sad that the pandemic forced mandatory closures for estheticians and created hardships for so many.

Working under the dysfunctional conditions of this company will make you a stronger person and will also teach you to spot red flags of an abusive employer.

1. Supplies are never ordered in time or at all. You will be forced to make due with what you have or pay for supplies out of pocket. You will not be properly reimbursed. 2. The rent and bills are not paid on time. The employees are left answering calls from aggressive bill collectors as well as dealing with the utilities being constantly turned off. Eviction notices are a regular occurrence for this company. 3. If you are new you most likely will not get your paycheck on time. Your paycheck will often be wrong or late. When you ask when you will be paid, you will either be made to feel like it's an incredible inconvenience or the blame will be shifted to you or the" paper work"... that will be a lie. 4. The owners promote a hostile work environment by pitting the employees against each other. The gossip and mobbing instigated by the owners is beyond toxic and unprofessional . 5. The owners often belittle and threaten the managers and employees. I personally received a threatening call late in the evening by one of the owners while they where intoxicated. 6. The owners to do not give adequate training for mangers, desk staff or estheticians yet still give harsh criticism and almost no example of the correct way to execute the task. The turn over rate is extremely high and the morale of the staff ( unless your the favorite for the week employee) is very low. 7. Their accounting if off, if you ask for your pays tubs it will be an issue. Money wrongfully taken out of your check will not be refunded, you will just get the run around. When you get a review it will be 8. Lewd and inappropriate behavior from the owner makes the work environment unbearable.

Pros

With the beauty industry decimated over the last year and lots of businesses closing, I'm thankful to have found Stript Wax Bar. The fact that they havebeen in business for 12 years speaks volumes and everyone is so nice. The owners really go above and beyond in treating their employees and go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy.

I can only think of one and that is parking can be challenging in some locations.

The appearance of this Salon is its prize possession. Clients are allowed to request you. Promotions are put out to encourage clients to return.

This salon runs out of supplies frequently. Such as wax, large sticks, 4x4, garbage bags, and products necessary to apply to the skin of clients post and pre-wax. This salon chain often makes paycheck mistakes. These mistakes include late paychecks, paychecks being dropped off at a location that an employee doesn't work at, mis-pay: incorrect amount of payment. You have to fight to get paid for your allotted sick pay. If you have a dispute with your pay, you run the risk of being taken off the schedule. When it comes to asking for a review or a raise you may never get it. Issues are often dragged out and the owners hold no accountability. If a bad review is given on Yelp they don't take into account

I have been in the beauty industry for over 5 years and have worked in a number of different salons including corporate ones. This has by far been the best work environment especially for work/life balance. Love the small, family owned mentality and managers have been a huge support. Co-workers are friendly and helpful as well. Pay is great and unlimited time off as long as you find coverage..unheard of in the industry! Also the products are very high quality, the wax is the best I have used and clients rave about it.

Cons

Parking can be challenging but most locations are very close to public transportation. Occasionally you get a rude client. Sometimes estheticians do not clean the rooms thoroughly.

Pros

I really can't say enough good things about Stript Wax Bar. Really positive work experience here compared to other places I've worked. I worked at a corporate waxing place before and this is so much better! They truly care about the estheticians and clients and providing a good experience instead of only caring about how many people they could get in the door. I also have to mention that everyone is really supportive...from front desk to management to estheticians, we all work well and respect each other. Oh and great work/life balance!

Cons

I know people have mentioned parking but I work the evening shift and just pay for two hours in the parking meter then its free after six.
