I worked at Stroock for more than 3 years

    Pros

Generally a good place to practice for certain areas of law, mostly good management. Great real estate and trusts & estates groups.

    Cons

Not quite a full service firm, somewhat opaque review process with little insight given into career prospects.

    I worked at Stroock

    Pros

Will learn a lot. No vacation days, staff is friendly. No real opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Will work you to death, hostile work environment from senior level management.

I worked at Stroock full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They are quick to show appreciation for the staff both in acknowledgement and salary/bonus. Work and life balance is adequate. They bent over backwards to keep everyone employed during the recession.

    Cons

Keep out of petty politics. Its not much of that going on, but it is deadly if you get caught up in it.

    Advice to Management

Just keep your approach to deal with staff. No complaints.

I worked at Stroock full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They paid on- time. Much of the support staff bust their chops to make the jobs of the lawyers easier. Everyone helps each other so that things go smoothly.

    Cons

There is no advancement if you are staff. No matter what you learn or how it possibly can benefit the company you probably should keep it to yourself. It doesn't matter.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing. You guys are swell.

I worked at Stroock full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pro-bono work, public service work, overtime. The opportunities are yours if you take initiative.

    Cons

I had a great experience and mentors so I have nothing negative to say.

I have been working at Stroock full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Surrounded by really good people, great pay and benefits. The management seems to care about their employees, which definitely doesn't happen at a lot of other places.

    Cons

No cons that I can think of at this time.

    I worked at Stroock

    Pros

The company pays very well, it has nice perks like a free laptop every so often, trips to New York once a year, free lunches, etc.

    Cons

The company uses young lawyers for backup work (research, writing, document review), but you won't gain much of a skill set beyond that while you are there. There is a lot of territorial fighting amongst the partners as to who can assign which associates work and not much caring or respect for the careers of the associates.

    Advice to Management

The company needs to pay more attention to developing its associates' career by letting them take depositions, appear in court, have some client contact, etc.
